May You Be Safe & Free From Harm

(In Person and Zoom Service)

In a world where transphobia and homophobia are ever increasing, how can we make our community safe for vulnerable LGBTQ+ young people? With the help of representatives from the Diversity Center, we will explore what we can do.

Speaker: Vicky Maxon from Diversity Center

Worship Leaders: Jan Shirchild

Worship Associate: Mindy Scherr

Upcoming services:

Sept 3: Labor of Love

Sept 10: Water Ceremony - Rev Ryan Althaus

Our goal is to provide a meaningful worship experience for all—for those who can attend in-person and for those who can’t.

Please join Sunday in-person or click the link below to join on-line as we live our mission and work toward our vision of beloved community.

Fall Vocal Workshop “Songs of Spirit”

Saturday September 9th 10 am – 2pm at UUFSCC

Gail Swain will lead us in exploring the voice as a tool for joyful social connection with each other and the world, spiritual awareness and a powerful force for advocating justice, eco action and peace.

Using songs of many genres (Folk, New Thought, & Pop among others) we will build a community of singers with love as our focus. This workshop is open to the public, with the idea of promoting our UU musical vision. All Choir members are encouraged to attend and to bring friends who like to sing. We’ll be doing a lot of singing, some dancing and simple percussion.

Saturday September 9th 10 am – 2pm in Sanctuary @ Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Santa Cruz County

$20.00 includes Taco Bar lunch

Led by Gail Swain, Music Director at UUFSCC,

Accompanied by Michael Levy on piano and guitar

August Shared Plate is COPA

(Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action)

This summer the UUFSCC shared plate will support COPA. We are charter members of this now 20 year old community organizing and action association of faith and other organizations from Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties. Communities Organized for Relational Power In Action works through these member organizations to listen to community concerns and develop them into action plans to effect change. At the same time, COPA builds relationships with politicians and others who can implement change, demonstrates to them the power of community COPA develops, and in this way becomes Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action. Current areas of action are affordable housing, health care access, and good paying jobs. It is up to us and other member institutions to support, direct and implement these activities.
