I-CONNECT – RACE AND STUDENT BELONGING

We will examine the issue of “Race and Student Belonging at BHS” at the next PTSA I-Connect meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 8:15-9:45 a.m. in the library. Our guest speaker will be Shomari Jones, Director of Equity and Strategic Engagement for the Bellevue School District (BSD). All current Bellevue High School parents and caregivers are invited.

Feeling a sense of belonging is essential for physical, mental, and emotional health. What are the barriers students face to feeling accepted, and how does race play a part? What does data from a recent BSD student survey tell us? What role and responsibility should parents share in fostering a sense of belonging for all students? We will ask Mr. Jones these questions and more. Also participating in the discussion will be Lorenzo McKinney, Graduation Success Coach at BHS.

I-Connect is a parent engagement program sponsored by PTSA.

THANK YOU TO THE BHS PTSA

AND TO OUR FOOTBALL CLUB SUPPORTERS

A HUGE Thank you to the Bellevue PTSA and to our Bellevue Football Club supporters for the funding of a new utility vehicle for our campus. The most recent one was nearly 30 years old, and now has been replaced with a much healthier vehicle. The purpose the vehicle serves is to ensure that all Athletics are supported with the ability for our Athletic Trainer to set up and support needs at all practices and competitions. It is vital to the custodial support of our school on a daily basis to move deliveries easily around our school. It can also be utilized by all programs and school needs should those situations arise.

Thank you so much to both these amazing groups and their thoughtful support!!!

At the water polo jamboree over the weekend, our team showcased remarkable skill and determination. They kicked off the tournament with a victory against the #2 ranked team in the state, setting a high tone for the games that followed. Despite facing tough competition and enduring losses to the defending state champions and another strong team, our athletes displayed incredible resilience, particularly in the final game, where they scored three unanswered goals in the last two minutes, ending with a close 7-5 score. Their spirit and tenacity are commendable and a proud moment for all the parents and supporters.
