Hundreds Attend GGUSD's College Fair

It was a packed house at GGUSD's College Fair this week. Hundreds of students and families filled the Great Wolf Lodge to meet with representatives at their favorite colleges and universities. We love helping students navigate the college admissions process and we love seeing students excited for the future! Thank you to Board of Education Trustees Bob Harden and Lan Nguyen for attending to show their support and kudos to our Parent and Community Outreach team for planning this great event.

Pacifica Hosts Unified Softball Game

Kudos to Pacifica High School. Students played their first-ever Unified Softball Game earlier this month. Students with and without disabilities in the Unified PE class played with the girls CIF softball team! Students had the opportunity to practice for a game, wear uniforms, and have fans cheer their efforts on!

GGUSD Schools Uplevel Learning with Technology

We love seeing our students use technology to enhance and elevate learning. At Hill Elementary School, students love the cinematography program that allows students to create and deliver their own news stories! In our 21st century schools, students are implementing their academic skills (Goal 1) with the use of technology! Go Hill Hounds!

Irvine Intermediate Launches New Club to Build Connections

This year, Irvine Intermediate School launched “The Kettle Connection Social Club.” This is an engaging and inclusive club that brings together special education students and general education students during lunchtime to promote friendship, understanding, and enjoyment. The club creates an inclusive environment where students from different backgrounds can interact, play games, and build meaningful connections.

GGUSD Welcomes New Classified Employees

This week, we hosted a New Employee Orientation for classified employees with a presentation from Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi, introductions of the district's leadership team, break-out sessions, and introductions of the employee association leadership teams. Dozens of new paraeducators, clerical staff, and maintenance, transportation and food services staff attended to learn more about how their roles contribute to the success of the district and schools. We also shared our 2023 Strategic Plan video which highlights how the district goals (academic skills + personal skills = lifelong success) impact our students.

GGUSD Schools Provide Free Produce at Mobile Food Pantry

Simmons Elementary School, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, is one of several GGUSD elementary schools to host a monthly Food Pantry providing families and community members with free fresh produce. Kudos to Simmons' awesome parent volunteers who help organize this important event.

Misha, Nellie and Heart Bring Smiles to Students

Eisenhower Elementary School welcomed support dogs Misha, Nellie, and Heart partnered with our Garden Grove Police School Resource Officers Julienne, Link, and Zmija. Our students and staff had opportunities to meet and learn more about their important work. Most importantly, students had the opportunity to pet and hug Nellie, Heart, and Misha.

GGUSD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

GGUSD is proud that nearly 55% of our student population and a large number of our employees are of Latino/a descent. Throughout the year, we frequently host cultural events that celebrate our district's diversity. We are proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by spotlighting our students and staff.

GGUSD Celebrates Family Engagement
