Topic: Climate Resilience in an Age of Political Polarization

California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL), birthed here in San Francisco out of Grace Cathedral over 20 years ago, has pioneered the faith & climate movement, promoting climate justice, building resilient communities, and creating sustainable policy solutions in the face of a rapidly changing and challenging political climate.

SFIC February Monthly Breakfast featured presenter CIPL Northern California Director Rev. Gregory Stevens will provide insights and concrete strategies for developing climate resilience in your congregation, securing environmental funding, and navigating the challenges of climate policy advocacy in an era of political polarization.

Join us to learn how faith communities, local governments, and grassroots organizations can continue to make a significant impact on climate justice and resilience in California and beyond.

Reflective Moment:

Rev. Vanessa Southern, Senior Minister

Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco

SFIC Immediate Past Chair

Featured Presenter:

Rev. Gregory Stevens, CIPL Northern California Director

Gregory serves as the Northern California Director. As a former Baptist preacher, long-time labor organizer, and interfaith community activist they bring a creative mix of skills to our team as we seek to strengthen multi-religious responses to climate change. Gregory grew up in Tampa/St. Petersburg Florida, where their love for crawling critters, furry felines, and old oak trees solidified into political and social activism for planetary healing. They have a BA in Religion and Gender Studies from the University of South Florida, an MDiv from Claremont School of Theology, and an MA in Anthropology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. In their free time,e they enjoy overstuffed used bookstores, the smell and feel of giant Redwood Trees, watching documentaries about ancient cultures, and all things Unitarian Universalist.
