Youth Action Network Pop-Up Events
Join us on Wednesday, April 27th
from 2:00-5:00 pm for the first Pop-Up Event!
Our first pop-up event will be at Laurel Park in Santa Cruz in partnership with the Teen Center and London Nelson on April 27th from 2:00-5:00 pm.

The YAN Steering Committee Team is creating a new, fun, and meaningful way to bring everyone in the network, youth, and community members together. Our goal for the pop-up event is to connect youth 11-21 to youth programs, resources, and local leaders through games, activities, food, and fun!

At the pop-ups, we plan to include:
- Interactive tables focused on youth resources, programs, leadership opportunities
-Small field games & activities
-Raffle Prizes
-Food & music! (first 50 people will receive free tacos!)

We hope to see you there!
We will be hosting Pop-Up Events in different parts of the county from
April to July.

In Bloom Concert! Hosted by Digital Nest E-Unit
Events-Unit is excited to host our “In Bloom: Mini-Festival”!

They are collaborating with @milpacollective ,@artedelcorazon and @xxiiihrs to host a free event with live music featuring local music artists: 1 AM, DannyV, Gabi Bravo, and Enchilados. They will also have raffles and various local art vendors.

Career Exploration Scholarship 2021-22
YFIOB's Career Exploration Scholarship is now open for students to apply! Students will have the opportunity to win one of fourteen $1,000 scholarships. This scholarship is for Santa Cruz County Students to discover a fulfilling and successful career.

This scholarship can be utilized in exploring different types of career options such as a post-secondary or trade program and/or attending work-based learning opportunities such as after-school programs, summer camps, and other related career programs.

The City of Capitola is looking for youth to serve on the following boards, commissions, and committees:

Youth members do not have to live in Capitola BUT should live within Soquel Union Elementary School District, or attend Soquel, Harbor, or Aptos High School.

Youth for Environmental Action Summit 2022
Youth for Environmental Action is hosting our annual environmental summit! With an aim to collaborate our students and community members for the sake of the health of our planet, our summit theme this year is: Connecting our Community for Environmental Justice and Action.

Santa Cruz Public Library Teen Programs
  • Advisory Council for Teens @ North County (Ages 12 to 18) They meet every 2nd Sunday of the month at the Felton Teen Room from 2pm to 4pm. The main focus of the ACT is young adult services, including programs, events, spaces, and policies. This is a good opportunity for students to fulfill community service credits, obtain job skills, develop leadership abilities, and acquire college extracurricular experience. Also, ACT is a great outlet to meet great friends and most importantly, have fun with other like-minded individuals.
  • Teen Zine Club (Ages 12 to 18) They meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at the Felton Community Room from 12pm to 1:30pm. We just get together to create zines!
  • Coding Basics: Scratch 101 (Ages 8 to 12) New program for Tweens! They are going to meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month in the Felton Community room from 11am to 12 pm.They are going to learn the basics of coding and build a simple platform game!

Everett Impactathon
Join the Everett Program and Digital Nest for the next Everett Impactathon in collaboration with the Digital NEST, "Visualizing Inequality: Moving towards Data Justice" on April 23rd!

Impactathons are free weekend events focused on teaching youth about social justice and technology. This Impactathon will focus on data science, visualization, and community justice. Hope to see you there!

Job Opportunity: Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Coordinator
The Probation Department Juvenile Division is creating a Youth-led Advisory Council to inform Probation and partners of gaps, opportunities, and initiatives important to youth and emerging adults involved in the criminal justice system and their families/caregivers. The YAC Coordinator will work closely with youth and emerging adults who have applied and/or been selected to participate on the council. The coordinator will be responsible for providing guidance and structure to the council members in a mentorship/leadership capacity.

United 4 Youth Live Oak: Free Homework Club
The United 4 Youth Live Oak homework club is off and running with sessions held every Monday evening. Activities are distributed amongst all of the Live Oak program partners (Live Oak Community Resources, Monarch Services, Walnut Avenue Family & Women Center, and Yoga for All Movement) alternating days to ensure an array of resources are available to the participating Live Oak community.
