Staying warm with CVOEO

Recently, CVOEO supported a 79-year-old client who reached out for help with home heating and weatherization, having endured five years without a working furnace. During this time, she relied on electric space heaters and wore multiple layers to stay warm in her home.

Thanks to a referral from a community partner, CVOEO's Fuel & Utilities staff, embedded with our Community Action Network team, worked closely with the client to address her needs, holistically and quickly.

They connected her with our Champlain Valley Weatherization Program to address her furnace issues, and helped her apply for Seasonal Fuel, GMP EAP, and VT Gas EAP programs to help her stay warm within her available budget. Our team also assisted her in applying for 3SquaresVT, ensuring she won't have to choose between staying warm and eating a nourishing meal.

No one should have to choose between putting food on the table or staying warm.

How will our community remember you?

Did you know there are many ways to make a lasting gift to CVOEO? One sentence in your will, or a meeting with your Financial Advisor, can make a big difference.

Board Member and Vergennes resident, Jon Crystal, shares why he gave a legacy gift to CVOEO:

I have been a vocal advocate for CVOEO since I joined the Board of Directors in 2011, and I continue to be impressed by the scope, scale, and depth of commitment of CVOEO and its staff to their mission in our community.

I support CVOEO annually through my volunteer work and donations. I wanted to find the best way to extend that support over time, and after some research, I decided a Charitable Gift Annuity would be the best vehicle for my family.

There are many ways to leave a legacy gift, and I hope you will join me in supporting CVOEO for years to come!
