It’s not too late to register for Fall Semester classes. Applying is free! Classes start August 30.

Automotive Program Coordinator Named to National Board

Sara Heller, Coordinator of RVCC’s Automotive Technology program, has been elected as a Board Member of the North American Council for Automotive Teachers (NACAT). The national organization for automotive teachers provides networking opportunities, training, scholarships, and various events for educators in the field.

Last year, Heller was honored with a national achievement award as the CAR/Electude/ASE Instructor of the Year at the Board of Governors meeting of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
Professor’s Artwork in Brooklyn

Two barricade designs for Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn’s Dumbo Improvement District, both created by RVCC’s own Ji Yong Kim, were recently printed and installed on site.

The works by Kim, Assistant Professor in the Arts & Design department, include “DUMBO Delicacies” and “DUMBO Mandala.” Kim is among nine artists whose work is featured at the sites. The artwork will be on display for two years, rotating throughout the park and neighborhood during that time.
Free OSHA Safety Training Program

RVCC will hold an OSHA Safety Training Program, August 23-25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Workforce Training Center at the College’s Branchburg campus. The program, which is open to anyone age 18 or older, is being funded by the Opportunity Meets Innovation Challenge (OMIC) Grant and it’s free of charge for participants. Class size is limited, so those interested should register as early as possible.
Planetarium

The RVCC Planetarium is presenting star and laser shows for all ages in August, including star shows focused on exploring the night sky and the universe, and laser concerts featuring music by such artists as Taylor Swift and Led Zeppelin.

The Theatre at RVCC’s upcoming 40th season offers something for everyone—from witty, abridged Shakespeare; to spirited multicultural drumming; to traditional Irish dancing; to celebrations of music from the past; to holiday favorites, and much more.
