Volunteer, Xavier B. has been learning Mandarin at school and has written some letters in it. The larger calligraphy characters on each right of each page mean "Luck" and "Prosperity", which are common characters that people hang up during the holidays. Writing letters is a great way to practice a language you are learning, and reach non-English speakers. LAI writes cards in Arabic, Creole, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. To sign up to write in one of these languages, find the alternate language tab of the spreadsheet! |
