Meet the Board!
Rachel Geissler, Chapter President
| | | |
Each month, we will feature a different member of our Board of Directors. This month, get to know our Chapter President, Rachel Geissler. If you'd like to get involved, email madisonlpgaamateurs@gmail.com.
Q: How and when did you start golfing?
A: I started golfing about 7 or 8 years ago in order to keep up with male coworkers and not embarrass myself at work golf outings with clients or prospective clients.
| |
| | |
Q: When did you join the LPGA Amateurs and how long have you been on the Board of Directors?
A: I joined EWGA 6 or 7 years ago; shortly after joining, I joined the board as the Membership Director, then became the Chapter President, chaired the Charity Golf Outing, and am back on the Board as the Chapter President. During my first Presidency I was also approached by National to be a Chapter Development Specialist serving as a liaison between national and the 4 WI chapters; since beginning that role I’ve become a Lead working with a new CDS (and former Madison Chapter member now living in Milwaukee) and overseeing 6 chapters (the 4 WI, plus MN Metro and Chicago Area).
Q: What is your favorite golf course you’ve ever played?
A: Favorite course so far has been SentryWorld in Stevens Point; the flower hole is beautiful and the level of care provided by the staff was unmatched!
Q: What is one of your golf goals for this year?
A: Golf goal for this year is to finally get myself a new set of clubs – I’ve been putting it off for a few years so it’s well overdue!
Q: What is your favorite thing about the Madison chapter?
A: I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Pleasant View league on Wednesdays, but in general my favorite part of the chapter is the multi-generational friendships you can forge.
Q: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not golfing?
A: When I’m not golfing, I’m usually at work as an Employee Benefits Consultant at Risk Strategies (formerly Johnson Insurance), volunteering with Downtown Madison Kiwanis, or spending quality time with my husband, Andrew!

Launching J Vineyards at just 26 years old when wine was very much a man’s world. Today, the J winemaking team, led by Nicole Hitchcock, strives to translate the diversity of the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County – from the cool, coastal locations to the bright, sun-drenched hillsides – to the bottle.

It's Time to Start Thinking About Leagues! |
League sign-up will be here before we know it on March 27, so it's time to start thinking about what league you want to join this year.
We are happy to announce that all 2024 leagues run by the LPGA Amateurs Madison Chapter will be returning this year.
We offer leagues for every skill level, so please consider your level of play when registering. The level of play for each league is included in the league descriptions on our website. Below is a guide to the expectations of play for the different types of leagues.
Beginner/Learner - New to golf, just getting back into golf, and/or looking for a combination of golf and instruction.
Intermediate - Can navigate around the golf course and keep up with the pace of play. May or may not keep score and prefers a more social round.
Advanced - Can keep up with pace of play on difficult courses (2 hours for 9 holes). Please be mindful that it can be difficult to keep your pace of play if you are hitting into trouble areas and/or hazards regularly. If you regularly have to pick up to keep pace of play, a lower level league may be more appropriate for you.
Competitive - Keeps score according to the USGA Rules of Golf and maintain pace of play in a competitive golf environment. There is no handicap limit, but players are expected to maintain an accurate and up-to-date USGA handicap index. This includes posting all eligible league rounds after play each week.

|
We believe in celebrating member achievements, great and small! Email us at madisonlpgaamateurs@gmail.com to share your golf successes, whether it's your first ever par, a tournament win, or anything in between.
On January 21, Chapter members Lisa Herfel, Rebecca Swartz, and Rachel Lawless (subbing for Carissa Amundson) won the Tuesday night Fall league at X-golf Middleton! Teams of 3 played weekly matches, with the top 4 teams earning a spot in the playoffs. Lisa, Rebecca, and Carissa were the only all-female team and entered the playoffs as the #1 seed, and they successfully won both of their playoff matches to secure the title of X-league Champions! Congrats, ladies!
