Portrait of a Graduate Statements & Imagery Approved
At last night's Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the Portrait of a Graduate visuals, which I am pleased to share with you below!

During CCSD93's Portrait of a Graduate process that took place in the fall and winter, CCSD93 invited all community members, parents, and staff members, as well as student leaders, to participate in interviews, focus groups and community forums designed to identify the ideal attributes our community desires for our students to acquire by 8th grade.

Thanks to the in-depth insights shared by the more than 100 participants, the image and statements below articulate a clear and concise goal of the traits and qualities our graduates must have. Next year, we will work to create our next Strategic Plan, which will lay out grade by grade methods and metrics by which our students will work toward attaining these characteristics! We'll share more and seek further input as the process continues.
Free Summer Grab & Go Meals Available Starting 6/6
This summer, CCSD93 will continue to offer free meals for pickup for all area children under the age of 18, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). See this image for more!
Paid School Meals to Resume in 2022-23
CCSD93 anticipates that families will once again be required to pay for school breakfasts and lunches starting in the 2022-23 school year. We’ll share more information with you about the payment process closer to the start of the school year.

If you believe your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), you will find an active link to the NSLP website at www.ccsd93.com starting in July that you can use to apply for free or reduced-price meals. Paper applications are also available at your child's school upon request (please allow up to 10 days for processing).

Keep Your Child Engaged With Summer Learning Opportunities
CCSD93 encourages students to continue to engage with learning resources throughout the summer. All families are invited to visit CCSD93’s Summer Learning website at www.ccsd93.com/summer for a variety of learning opportunities. Be sure to use the navigation bar (across the top on a desktop or in the upper left on a mobile device) to access great content by grade level.

You’ll find online resources for which CCSD93 has provided student logins like iReady, Brain Pop, Khan Academy and more; additional online activities; and links to our public library websites.

Of particular interest is the Carol Stream Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Students can earn prizes for reading! You can find more about it on the K-8 Summer Activities page of our Summer Learning website, and by watching the video linked here!
Students Celebrate 2021-22 School Year
Throughout the past two weeks, CCSD93’s schools have held end of year celebrations. Here is a highlight from every school!
6th Graders Host Empire Fair
Last week, 6th grade students in Advanced Humanities at Jay Stream Middle School presented their Empire Fair projects to volunteer judges. They were provided with a location and basic structure (hegemonic, federative or territorial) for a fictional civilization and were challenged to put structures in place to prevent the downfall of their empire. Students devoted time researching and creating displays, which they explained to judges during the Fair, who asked probing questions that required students to further explain their thinking. It was a terrific learning experience for all!
