Civilian Response to Active Shooter Education

This presentation is designed to educate participants on how to respond in the event of an active shooter situation. This 2-hour program provides practical lessons on how to save lives. The presentation provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Painted Wine Bottles with Fairy Lights

Have questions about your smartphone? Have an issue using apps on your tablet? Can't remember how to copy and paste? Have an issue in Excel? Sharper Training Solutions will be here to offer tech support sessions, where you will receive hands on help with your device or program. Patrons will be offered 15-minute sessions.

Rhonda Denét - From Jazz to Soul

Bring a lawn chair and join us on our greenspace as we enjoy songs from the 30's through the 70's; a musical journey from the era when the "First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald graced the stage to when the "Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin ruled the airways. In addition to Ella and Aretha, this showcase pays tribute to Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, Etta James, Martha & The Vandellas, Mary Wells and Gladys Knight.

This is a FREE event brought to you by the Mattituck-Laurel and Cutchogue-New Suffolk and Southold Free Libraries.
Please dress for the weather. In the event of inclement weather, we will have the event inside in our library's meeting room.

Join us for a leisurely walk at the Mattituck High School Track on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August from 7:30am - 8:30am. Wear comfortable sneakers and dress for the weather. Water and sun protection are also recommended. All participants can walk and rest at their own pace.

Visit Old Westbury Gardens and the Charming Sculptures of Seward Johnson
Reserve our Library Garden Pass (two adults and their children) to a place of horticultural beauty, exhibits, and sculpture. Your children can race across the expansive lawns, and you might want to take a photo with one of Seward Johnson’s life-like sculptures. Also visit the former mansion house of John Shaffer Phipps.

American Museum of Natural History
Our patrons can purchase vouchers ($5 each) for admission to the museum plus one exhibit or show. The Museum’s summer exhibits are, as expected, exciting and engaging for the entire family.
Chair Strength & Stretch - Mondays, 7/25 - 8/29 - 9am - 10am
Improve your strength, mobility, posture, balance and flexibility during seated (and some) standing exercises. You will be using tubing balls, bands, and gliding discs. The class will keep you moving to the music of the 60s, 70s and 80s!
*Please bring a pair of 3-4lb dumbbells

New Scavenger Hunts for August. Try to find all the hidden characters!
What a fun filled week of scheduled programs. Stop in and challenge yourself with our Scavenger Hunts, STEM table or just play and read!


Note: Come into the children’s room Monday morning to get a number for the Stuffed Animal Fun. The number will assure you a spot downstairs for the animal build. There are only 30 animals. Child must be present to stuff the animal with us. This is not a grab and go program. All animals will be stuffed here.

Community Service Opportunity!
The Friends of the Library are looking for some teen volunteers to help out with their Hot dog Picnic on Wednesday August 12th.


Anyone interested should contact Marissa Timm at marissa.timm@mattlibrary.org or call the library 631-298-4134.

We also have Pet Portraits that teens can either paint here at the library or as a grab and go (to bring back to the library) for community service hours! These are portraits of adoptable animals from the North Fork Animal Welfare League. Anyone interested can come to the library and see Marissa at the Young Adult Services Desk, or contact via email.
