Field Day!
This morning, Thursday, May 26th, we celebrated our Annual Field Day! Students and staff had fun playing with the Tug-o-War, Dodgeball, Sack Race, Wacky Baseball, Water Ball Tag, Sprinklers, and Car Wash Relays! A Special thanks to Pelican's Snoballs for coming to our event. Take a look at pictures of this wonderful event.

Over the last two weeks, students in 4th - 7th grade were invited to participate in our Student Council elections. Candidates were required to: pick a campaign manager, submit speeches, make posters/stickers, and give their speeches live in front of students. We are so proud of all of our candidates and their campaign managers. Prepare for the Next School Year!

It has been an exciting year for BSS. We only have a few more days to go before the end of the school year and we wanted to send out some items to prepare for the next school year.

Little Knights Summer Reading List-Little Knights students-rising Preschool and PreKindergarten classes-We encourage these students to read 15 minutes a day in July and August-Click on the link to access our reading calendars to be turned in the first day of school. K-8 Summer Reading List- For the 2022-2023 school year, our summer reading program will be, once again, a school-wide focus on STEM topics. Each class will be required to read one book and when they return to school in August, teachers will follow up with additional meaningful discussions and assignments in class. For the MS students, please be prepared for a quiz on the first day of school. We will plan to have a STEM Summer Display sometime in September to see the wonderful work done by your children.

Spring Sing! Thank You for Coming!

We had a wonderful Spring Sing last Friday, May 20th at St. Marks Church! Thank you to all of our parents who were able to come and see your child sing. Our final song at the Spring Sing with a special performance by Coach Letvak! The kids enjoyed learning a song from Sister Act! We are so lucky to have Mrs. Spradlin on our team working with our students. They all did a wonderful job! Thank you to Mrs. Davis for her assistance as well!

Blessed Sacrament Church - Little Portion Food Pantry Distribution

The purpose of this message is to inform you that the next food distribution for the Little Portion Food Pantry sponsored by Blessed Sacrament Church is scheduled. Please share the information with your congregations.

MONDAY – JUNE 6th  – 11:30 AM – 5:00 PM

The food pantry is located at 408 West Davis Street, Burlington, NC. 27216

The streets are cordoned off to allow easier access for guests. Please encourage attendees when possible to arrive earlier in the day when the selection of fresh produce and other limited products is greater.

The distribution is open to anyone regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. There is no proselytizing of any sort permitted.

Volunteers to help with the distribution efforts are always welcome! We need all the help we can receive!

Little Portion Food Pantry Distribution

  • The program provides supplemental food support for individuals & families in need.
  • What: Fresh Produce, Potatoes, Onions, Bread, Dry Goods - Enough food to feed a family for approximately 5 days.
  • Who’s Eligible: Anyone in need of food support.
  • Where: Blessed Sacrament Parish Offices – 408 West Davis Street, Burlington, NC
  • When: Monday – 11:30 AM till 5:00 PM – Come early if possible for the fresh produce.

Baby Chicks Hatching!

Exciting days in kindergarten!! Students have been taking care of chicken eggs this wee and have witnessed two baby chicks with more hatching now! 🐣 Thank you to Mrs. Spear for continuing this wonderful tradition for our students and school!
Kindergarten Fundraisers for the Make Wish Foundation

This morning, May 26th, students were able to purchase Juice & Muffins for $3 with your children Juice & Muffins. Kindergarten students sold these at the drop-off line starting at 7:15! All money earned will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation! Well done students! Thank you to the parents who participated, the NJHS members, and Mrs. Bost who helped with this event.
Little Knights Very Important Dates

  • May 31, 2022, is our last day in the classroom. We will have our end-of-the-year celebration on Jun 1, 2022. Generally, our end of the Year Celebration is off school campus and the students and their parents join us from 10 am to Noon for fun and food.  We are working out the details of this celebration and will share them once they have been confirmed.

A Goodwill truck will be parked in our lot from May 20 to May 31st. They will give our school $0.15 for every pound collected!

On Tuesday, May 10th our 3rd graders went to the Greensboro Science Center! The students had a wonderful time.

NC Opportunity Scholarships

Great News! The NC Carolina Opportunity Scholarship awards have increased this upcoming school year to $6,168!! Furthermore, now all rising Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders qualify for an award even if they did not attend a public school the previous year! Please review these guidelines and see if your family qualifies for an award.

Opportunity Scholarship renewal applications will open for the 2022-2023 school year on February 1 - March 31, 2021. If your family is currently a recipient of an opportunity scholarship, you are eligible for a scholarship for the next school year! Make sure you renew early since scholarship monies are given on a first-come-first-served basis. Follow THIS LINK to access the Opportunity Scholarship website. Applications for new students applying for a new award will open on March 1st.

La Fiesta is being added to your lunch lineup starting April 29th. Red Robin's last day of delivery will be April 8th. All orders for Red Robin after that date will be canceled and credited to your account. All credits are applied automatically upon your next checkout. La Fiesta is excited to begin serving your school.

Uniforms!


We are aware that Lands’ End is running behind on their orders. We do have a variety of items available in the swap shop. If you need uniforms let us know! If you have items to donate, we definitely need them (especially Middle School polo shirts).

UPDATE: BSS has partnered with Graham Sporting Goods to be co-suppliers for the PE uniforms for the school year. You can still buy the PE uniform through Lands' End for this school year, but next year Graham Sporting Goods will be the only supplier for the PE Uniform supplier. Graham Sporting Goods is still working on the fleece jacket option for us. It looks like they do have the zip-up hoodie jacket ready for purchasing, go check them out!

Application Deadlines
Early application is encouraged to help avoid being placed on a waitlist.
Applications for grades 9-12 are accepted on a rolling, space-available basis.
Ordinarily, BMCHS does not accept 12th-grade transfer students from local (Piedmont) schools. We will consider seniors who are transferring from out of state or from outside of the Piedmont region.
The following are given priority consideration through February 1: PACS students (students attending Piedmont Area Catholic Schools); siblings of current and former BMCHS students; children of alumni; children of Bishop McGuinness faculty and staff members, and children of PACS faculty and staff members.
A placement test is required for ALL grade 9 applicants.
