Georgia County Officials Participate in NACo Annual Conference
Georgia county officials traveled to Adams County (Denver), Colorado this week to participate in the 2022 NACo Annual Conference & Exposition. The conference provided diverse opportunies to hear from speakers, participate in continuing education sessions and explore the vendor floor. DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson (top photo, second from left) also completed his term as NACo President.
Kids Enjoy Fishing Derby
in Augusta-Richmond County
Approximately 100 children from the Augusta area participated in a Kids Fishing Derby last Saturday at Mayor's Fishing Pond. The derby was hosted by the Office of Mayor Hardie Davis, in partnership with the Augusta Utilities Department, Parks and Recreation and the City of Augusta. Interim Administrator Takiyah Douse, Augusta Utilities Director Wes Bynes, Mayor Hardie Davis, Parks and Recreation Director Maurice McDowell helped to celebrate Karter Willis, who had the biggest catch of the day!
Spalding County Breaks Ground on New Aquatic Center
Spalding County commissioners recently participated in a groundbreaking for the new Spalding County Aquatic Center. The center will be the future home of the Griffin Gators Swim Team and a great resource, serving all ages and abilities. The center is funded through the county's 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). To see more from the groundbreaking, click here.
Glynn County Celebrates Opening of New Animal Services Facility
Glynn County officials recently participated in a ribbon cutting to open a new Animal Services facility. The public was encouraged to attend the opening and see the available animals up for adoption. This facility was part of the county's SPLOST 2016 projects.
Cherokee County Solicitor-General Recognized with State Award
Congratulations to Cherokee County Solicitor-General Todd Hayes who was recently named as the Georgia Association of Solicitors-General. The award was presented by Bibb County Solicitor-General Rebecca Grist, who said Hayes was the unanimous choice for this year's award.

with City Officials to Discuss
November SPLOST Referendum
Mitchell County recently met with officials from all county municipalities to discuss calling for a Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum in November.
