Unlocking Potential: Strategies for Brownfield Redevelopment |
Brownfields redevelopment is a tool for community revitalization and economic development.
Most communities have at least one brownfield site. Central Pines Regional Council will host a workshop addressing this topic on Thursday, May 2 from 9:15 am - 3:00 pm at the CPRC office in Durham. This event will help local governments, non-profits, and brownfield stakeholders learn strategies for transforming brownfield sites into productive uses. The workshop will provide insight into funding opportunities, partnership building, and lessons learned from other brownfield redevelopment projects that are underway or completed.

US Treasury to Hold Office Hours on Direct Pay Final Rules | The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released final rules on elective pay, (otherwise known as “direct pay”). Elective pay is an important mechanism in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that helps enable state, local, and Tribal governments; non-profit organizations; Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories; and other entities to take advantage of clean energy tax credits. | The IRS is hosting upcoming office hours for direct pay applicable entities that have questions specifically about the pre-filing registration process. A schedule of those hours and links to register can be found below: | | |

Disaster Recovery Trainings
Join Central Pines Regional Council and learn how your community can take advantage of FEMA Public Assistance (PA) funds when a disaster strikes. To help clarify and support local governments in the PA process, CPRC along with North Carolina Emergency Management, Orange County, Johnston County, and Chatham County Emergency Management, is hosting a series of free trainings on FEMA's PA Program for local government officials. Any and all local government officials are welcome, but we strongly encourage representatives from local finance, public works, and emergency service departments to attend.
