Welcome to August in our nursery!

🌆 A San Jose Summer

The heart of Silicon Valley, our beloved San Jose, shines even brighter during these warm summer days. August-blooming California natives including mimulus, penstemons, and milkweed, early showings of autumn plants like Sedum spectabile 'Autumn Joy', tropical flowers like Hibiscus, and drought-tolerant standbys such as lantana, oleander, and salvia are all showing their exquisite beauty in August.

🌱 Nurturing August Growth

August is a time of nurturing in our nursery. With the pressing heat, our team is hard at work tending to the specific needs of our many varieties of plants, ensuring they receive the care and attention needed to bloom at their best in our hot and dry San Jose climate. Learn more about our operations processes in this month's Behind the Scenes feature.

🌸 Discovering August Delights

We're excited to showcase a colorful array of plants this month perfectly suited for August planting. From vibrant perennials that withstand the summer heat to the gorgeous local color of August-blooming California natives, this newsletter is brimming with suggestions to enhance your use of color in late-summer landscapes.

Wishing you a bright and bountiful August,

Garden & Landscaping

There is nothing like the beauty of a native garden. Knowing that your landscape is contributing to environmental health cultivates a sense of peace and joy over and above the beauty of the garden itself. At the same time, we still want our gardens to be colorful and vibrant, and we may fear that California native plants would produce a similar look to the dry, arid hills around San Jose this time of year.

Fortunately, this fear is totally misplaced - there is a veritable rainbow of native flowering plants to enhance your landscapes this time of year. Learn how to infuse your garden with local August color in this month's exclusive article.
