"Peace Rocks!"

Rondout Celebrates

The International Day of Peace

September 21, 2023

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of our International Day of Peace Celebration!

Together we enjoyed the events of the day. Students came together as a school community to hear about International Peace Day from the Rondout Village’s Global Ambassadors. learning about its origin and purpose.  The program continued with some Rockin Tunes by the Rondout School Band, the K-2 Cluster and Mr. Knapper’s Rock Performance. Students sang and danced and had a Rockin good time celebrating peace and joy. After the concert students worked in multi-age clusters to work together on the following activities…

Peace Rocks Creation: They painted and decorated rocks with symbols, quotes, and designs that signify peace which will be displayed around the school to remind us of our shared commitment to peace.

Sidewalk Chalk Murals: Students used sidewalk chalk and let their imaginations run wild! They teamed up with friends or worked individually to create vibrant sidewalk murals that celebrated peace and unity.

Peace Cranes: Student leaders helped lead the beautiful tradition of folding paper cranes as symbols of peace in order to fill our school with these symbols of hope and unity.

The Peace Chain: Together we crafted a massive chain, with each link representing our personal commitments to peace. This will be displayed in our main hallway, symbolizing the strength we have when we unite for a common cause.  We will ask our families to add to this chain during the upcoming Open House in October.
