Dear Pope STEM parents:

You may have heard from your child that the life science STEM classes are taking a field trip! We are excited to offer the opportunity to STEM students to go to Camp Fortson 4-H Center and learn about life science by experiencing it firsthand. This trip is open to students in the following classes: AP Environmental Science, STEM Biology, and Scientific Research. We will be learning about pond and forest ecology, with a night class on amphibians and, of course, some s'mores by the campfire. It should be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to extend the STEM learning beyond the classroom while building camaraderie with the STEM cohort.

This is an overnight trip that will depart at 7AM from Pope on Monday, October 23. We will return at 4PM on Tuesday the 24th. The cost per student is $210, which can be paid through My Payments Plus. We need a firm head count to send to Camp Fortson, so please make your payments by the time we return from fall break.

The image below has some additional details and click here for a packing list for those students who attend. Attendance is not mandatory for students, but I highly encourage everyone to go if possible; it should be a great experience!

New this year: Fill out your student field trip permission slips online in ParentVue. Navigate to "Student Information" and choose "Student Field Trip Permission." If a field trip permission form is available for you, it will show "Field Trips — Action Required." Click on the pencil icon to approve your student attending the trip and fill out the information.

Thank you.
