Black Gold 黒金 Photography Exhibit

A photography exhibit featuring the work of Cameron Peagler '14, study abroad alumnus and Gilman scholar, Black Gold黒金 aims to encourage Black students to study abroad through celebration of Black community members in Japan, whose success stories often go unheard. This exhibit includes portraits and intimate interviews of 30 Black creatives and entrepreneurs throughout Japan. 

Saudi National Day

Join IACSA in commemorating Orange Shirt Day--a day of remembrance for the Indigenous boarding schools and their legacies--on October 2. In preparation, they are selling paper shirts, wooden pins, and t-shirts priced from $1 to $25. All proceeds will go toward the WSU Native Student Scholarship Fund.

Orange Shirt Day

The Indigenous American Culture Student Association and the Asian and Native American Center invite you to wear orange in commemoration of the history and legacies of the residential school experience within Native communities in North America. If you don't have anything orange, please stop by the ANA Center or at IACSA's tabling to buy an orange shirt pin ($5). All proceeds support the WSU Native Student Scholarship Fund. Join us for a group picture at 4pm, followed by a short screening and discussion of representations of the boarding schools in popular media.

Amigos Latinos Gala

The Amigos Latinos Gala is a night of food, dancing, live music, awards, and a silent auction, all while giving back to scholarships for Latino students at Wright State. This gala is the signature fundraiser for the Amigos Latinos Scholarship and helps support the mission and work of the Latino Center. Tickets can be purchased online.

30th Anniversary of the Women's Center

The evening will include a formal sitting in Endeavor, Student Union--featuring Keynote Speakers Juliet Fromholt and Jocelyn Robinson of WYSO--followed by a reception in the Women's Center (023 Student Union). Student Assistant, Asian and Native American Center

The ANA Center seeks up to two highly motivated, energetic, organized, creative, and committed student assistants who are dedicated to supporting the mission of ANA. On a daily basis, student assistants will interact with faculty, staff, students, and other visitors to the Culture and Identity Centers and the ANA Center. Student assistants are expected to be personable, timely, organized, work in a diverse environment, have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, demonstrate excellent customer service, be able to follow through with assigned tasks, communicate with AD about needed support and clarification; and have a clear understanding of the services and mission of ANA. Introduction to International Education Workshop Series

Apply by September 30; workshops run October through March


Up to two students will be selected to represent WSU in the Ohio International Consortium's "Introduction to International Education" Workshop Series. This series is designed for students curious about careers in international education but who have not yet had an international experience. Participants will explore careers in international education, have an opportunity to job shadow and network with leaders in the field, and learn how to document this experience during their job search. Students who complete the program will be reimbursed for the cost of their first passport. Follow the link above for full details and to apply. AAPI Virtual Career Fair

Sponsored by Asian American Dreams and the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership, this virtual career fair is an opportunity for current undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and young professionals, to engage with employers across a variety of public and private sectors. Participants have the opportunity to schedule 1:1 interviews and informational group sessions with employers. This event is free for all attendees.

International Underground Railroad Day

Join the Middletown community and State Rep. Willis Blackshear Jr. in observance of International Railroad Month. Rep. Blackshear Jr. will be a keynote speaker in downtown Middletown for the 2nd anniversary for "International Underground Railroad Day". The event is free and open to the public.

Volunteer with NCCJ Teen Summit

The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of Greater Dayton's Teen Summit provides high school students with resources and skills that they can utilize to make changes in their school around topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This year, the theme is "Stigma: Overcoming Discrimination and Supporting Healing." Teen Summit will host 20 high schools in the Greater Miami Valley region. The Teen Summit encourages students to build networks of passionate youth leaders in their district. As a group, these leaders build projects to impact their district and community. NCCJ is in need of motivated college volunteers to help facilitate. Facilitators are responsible for leading their assigned group of high school students through the exercises as they work through the curriculum. Volunteer trainings are available October 10 and 12, the Teen Summit is on October 19. Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks named Ohio's first UNESCO World Heritage Site


The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks are a collection of historic earthen mounds built by Indigenous peoples 1600 to 2000 years ago. There are eight sites across Ohio. Fort Ancient, about 45 minutes away from Dayton, is the closest to WSU. Read or listen to the full story from NPR using the above link.
