Alan Thrasher Meets Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg

Alan Thrasher of Thrasher Brothers Trailways and UMA Chairman, said the following of his meeting with Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg:

"One of the benefits of making visits to Congress is getting to know the people behind the names. Thanks to Congresswoman Terri Sewell for getting me an intro to the Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg when he visited Birmingham this morning. Together with Mayor Woodfin, they announced a $15.5 grant to turn 4th Ave from a one way street into a two way street with bike paths.

While this may seem strange to do this, and the initiative is to reintegrate minority neighborhoods cut off by streets and highways. The best reason is to slow down the drag strip that kids have made of streets downtown. It's not safe to be a pedestrian, and as bad as downtown Birmingham needs to grow, this will actually be a good thing. At least I was able to speak to my government, still a privilege/right."
Trailways Charter and Referral Partner Program Update

Do you know fellow charter bus companies looking for more business? We have opened up our Referral Partner Program and are asking you to recommend trusted fellow operators to receive business opportunities if the current network is unable to service the charter. To refer a potential partner, please send an intro email to sabina@trailways.com.

Key Metrics and Achievements:
  • Membership Growth: In April 2024, we added 3 new referral partners and currently collaborate with 10 referral partners across the country!
  • Repeat Customers: Seeing customers come back time and time again due to the seamless booking experience and the excellent Trailways transportation service.

Below Are Some Tips/Best Practices for Using the Platform:
If you or your team needs extra training or has questions about certain elements of the platform, book a customer success meeting here.

  • Ensure pricing is up to date. The more accurate your pricing, the less adjustments, making the quoting process quick and easy for your team and the prospective customer.
  • Follow up. You can follow up by resending the quote to the customer or contacting them directly via phone or email. Companies have seen strong success following up once providing the quote.
  • If you decide you can’t service a trip you receive, hit ‘Decline’. This will enable the prospective customer to be serviced by another member or referral partner in a timely manner.

Future Outlook:
We remain committed to evolving this program along with our members, customers, and the broader industry. Have feedback? Submit it here
