President's Message

One month to go until the doors open on our 19th annual education super-conference Convergence 2023! We’ll be back at The Star this year, the cutting-edge practice complex and world headquarters of America’s Team the Dallas Cowboys. Along with the high-quality educational and networking opportunities you’re accustomed to with the Convergence program, we’ve been very fortunate this year to enlist as our luncheon speaker the Cowboys’ Executive Vice President of Business Operations Chad Estis, who is also a member of the Dallas 2026 World Cup Bid Committee. Chad will entertain and educate us on the process for bidding on the location for the 2026 World Cup, the people, companies and municipalities involved, and the impact of the event on DFW and the surrounding region. Registration openings are filling quickly, so if you haven’t already, take a moment now to register for Convergence 2023 by clicking here. If you’re needing an Ethics course, be sure to register for our live class Ethics for Texas CPAs scheduled for June 6, also at The Star. This course has been specially priced for Convergence, and we invite you to take advantage of this great conference bonus!
While you’re enjoying the Convergence experience, please visit all of the many sponsors who make our signature event possible. These organizations have supplied much of the tangible and intangible support required to put on an event of this quality, and we are extremely grateful to each one of them for doing that. I encourage all of you to review the list of sponsors elsewhere in this newsletter, visit them at the conference, and be sure to consider them when you’re in the market for the services they provide.
Speaking of Convergence sponsors, don’t miss our May Thirsty Thursday on May 18 at Blue Mesa Grill where we’ll be honoring these fine organizations and their considerable contributions to our association. Attendance is free, but we do ask that you RSVP which you can do by clicking here.
On Saturday, May 20, we invite you to come out to Concrete Cowboy across the street from The Star in Frisco and help us feed the area’s underserved population by making sandwiches with TangoTab’s Feed the City program. It will be a good opportunity to visit with your fellow Chapter members and do something meaningful for the community. We hope to see you there.
If you are, or you know, a college accounting senior or graduate student from Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M – Commerce, the University of North Texas or the University of Texas at Dallas, we invite you to apply for our 2023-24 TXCPA Dallas Scholarship Honoring Phillip Vogel. This program is a Dallas Chapter institution, and we are very proud of the impact it has on shaping the future of the profession. If you are interested in submitting an application, please contact Laura McFadden. Also, if you would like to make a donation to the scholarship fund, click here.
May 31 will mark the end of my term as Board President and what has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. TXCPA Dallas has a rich history of excellence and achievement, and it has been both a challenge and a joy to add my name to the list of those charged with leading this great organization into the future. My sincere gratitude goes to the 10 individuals who served on the Board of Directors with me this year. Your skill, wisdom and dedication inspire me and make me proud to be a member of this association. Thank you to the committee chairs and members and to the volunteers who worked so hard this year to further our mission. It is your ideas and effort that fuel the high performance of the Society. To the TXCPA Dallas staff who makes everything happen, my thanks to each of you. And to you as well, Dallas Chapter members. I have thoroughly enjoyed having your company, hearing your thoughts and receiving your help and encouragement on this journey.
On June 1 the President’s gavel passes to Max Duplant. Max is a proven leader and dedicated contributor to the Chapter, and I am confident that you will enjoy getting to know and working with her as much as I have.
Thank you again for your support, and all the best to each of you.
Kenny Broom, CPA, CBP
