Dear HCP4,
As a mother of three daughters, I pray for a future where my girls—and all our children—can grow up in a safe, healthy, and vibrant community.
In celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd and throughout the year, we must embrace our collective, shared responsibility to creating this community and to preserving and protecting the environment for generations to come.
Precinct 4 is committed to delivering progress year-round that promotes the current and future health and well-being of our community. Investing in sustainable infrastructure is one of the many ways my team and I are promoting conservation and making our region more future-ready. Here are a few examples of our recent work and ways you can get involved.
First, Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 is our most recent investment in safety, walkability, and accessibility. This initiative is a $20 million commitment to complete approximately 50 miles of sidewalks in 2024-2025 to safely connect residents and families to their schools, jobs, and healthcare destinations. For more information on projects in your area, visit our website.
Second, your feedback has been invaluable at the multiple public workshops we have hosted for the Burnett Bayland Master Plan, Katy East Community Plan and Mobility Study, and Bayland Park Master Plan. From requesting improvements like fixing drainage issues in your neighborhoods, to increasing connectivity between roads, you have driven the process and progress we have made in planning sustainable infrastructure for these areas.
Third, Precinct 4 has many exciting opportunities for all of us to come together to beautify and maintain our community. Join Precinct 4 and Trees for Houston on April 6th and April 9th from 9-11 a.m. at the Radack Community Center as we give away 1,000 new fruit, shade, ornamental, and other tree varieties. We also invite you to our Alief Community Clean Up event on April 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Crump Stadium. Those interested in volunteering can register here.
Lastly, please join us at our second listening session of the year on Saturday, May 4th at Nottingham Elementary School from 9-10:30 a.m. to share your ideas on how we can better serve you.
Let’s keep uniting so that—together—we can keep building a stronger, more resilient Precinct 4 and Harris County for all our children and future generations.
All my best,
Lesley Briones
