Policing and the Downtown
On May 2nd, in partnership with the Charlottetown Police Department, we hosted a very successful presentation/Q&A session with Chief Bard MacConnell and 6 of his officers from various departments.

The room was at capacity. I think all who attended would agree their time was well spent, their questions were answered, and they left better informed.  We are lucky to have a very engaged police department, with great leadership, who really understand and appreciate the importance of the downtown and the challenges we face.

Next Steps:
We want to keep the conversations and the engagement going, so here’s the next Opportunity for DCI Members:
  1. One on One Meeting with Sergeant Melissa Craswell, Community Policing. During this time, she, or a member of her team, would explain things such as bylaws, best practice, panhandling, trespass notices, or other such things affecting your area/business.
  2. Walk the Beat with the Chief: Spend an hour walking the downtown with Chief MacConnell, discuss issues on the street seen from street level, through the eyes and ears of the business/property Owner/manager.

Action:
If you would like to participate in either of these opportunities, please contact  Maria@DowntownCharlottetown.com to be added to the list for scheduled bookings.

Note: There will be a limited capacity for each, but every effort will be made to accommodate interested members.
