Adopt A Pet from the Lassen

County Animal Shelter – Clyde

If you’re the type of person that just can’t get enough of bully breeds, then look no further than Clyde. This chocolate hunk will make your heart melt.

Clyde arrived at the Lassen County Animal Shelter as a stray, which makes his history unknown to staff. However, what staff can share with everyone is how much of a snuggle bug Clyde is. He thinks he’s a lap dog and will literally attempt to crawl up into your lap despite the fact that he is not a tiny little chihuahua, even if he pretends to be.

animalshelteradopt image

So far, it has become clear that Clyde loves to sunbathe and is friendly with other dogs through the fencing in the play yard. Further evaluations will need to be done to see how he does with other shelter dogs nose to nose.

He’s a quiet, dignified fellow who very well may have some tricks up his sleeve. Staff reports Clyde may know how to ‘sit pretty’ or ‘beg’. Time will tell what other commands he might know.

Clyde is neutered and estimated to be about 4 years old. If interested in meeting this handsome boy, or other adoptable animals at the shelter, please call staff at (530) 257-9200.

Additional: Should there be another dog in the home, shelter staff always recommends a meet and greet to ensure a good match.

Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Current shelter hours during the COVID-19 pandemic are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. You can contact the shelter at 257-9200.

Janesville Man Killed in Friday

Evening Collision on County Road A3

A 58-year-old Janesville man, whose name has not yet been released by the Lassen County Sheriff Coroner’s office, was fatally injured Friday night, and his passenger flown to Renown Medical Center with major injuries, after the Polaris RZR side-by-side they were driving collided with a truck at the intersection of Lakecrest Road and County Road A3, just east of Janesville.

According to details provided by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, shortly before 10:00 Friday the unidentified driver and his passenger, identified as 53-year-old Janesville resident Stacie Sisson, were in the side-by-side traveling southeast on Lakecrest Road.

chpincident image

At the same moment, the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup, identified as 40-year-old Reno resident Jacob Beauchman, was driving a Dodge Ram pickup southwest on A3 approaching the intersection with Lakecrest.

“The vehicles collided in the intersection causing the Polaris to overturn. The driver and Stacie Sisson were ejected from the Polaris,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne.

The driver of the side-by-side was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Stacie Sisson was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno and Beauchman was not injured.

Thuelchassaigne said that alcohol may be a contributing factor in this crash and that the incident is still under investigation by the Susanville Area, CHP.

Plumas Freight May Move by Stage

September 18, 1926

An intimation that a large portion of Susanville’s freight business will be diverted to the stage lines operating between Susanville and Reno, and to lines which will later be established between Susanville and Sacramento, unless the Southern Pacific Company places Susanville upon its main line from Fernley to Oregon, is predicted by Susanville dispatches.

No concerted effort to divert such shipments to the sage lines is being made by Susanville shippers, the correspondents say, but they add that such a movement is highly probable.

The Susanville business interests have been insisting for several months that the old N. C. O line, which was purchased by the Southern Pacific, be moved westward to include Susanville in making its Oregon connection.
