This week we are focusing on whiskeys that use wheat for all or a portion of their mash bill. Wheat provides richness to the palate and flavors of maple, toffee, vanilla, and floral spice. These bold flavors often disguise the alcohol influence, making wheated whiskeys easy drinking crowd pleasers. Distillerys like Makers Mark and Buffalo Trace are well known for their wheated whiskeys but here are a few of our current favorites on our shelves.

Aged in barrels for at least 5 years, it must be produced in one distillery, by one distiller in the same distilling season. At Whiskey Acres we go one step further, by using our own grain from one single harvest. Think of it as whiskey with a vintage. With a mash bill of 75% corn, 15% soft red winter wheat, 10% malted barley, the wheated influence adds a layer of rich maple syrup underneath a bed of freshly baked corn bread.
