Wildlife, Inc. Education & Rehabilitation Center
By - Laura Weiss
One fine day back in January 1987, Ed Straight and his young son found an injured duck and brought him home…Thus began “Wildlife Inc. Education & Rehabilitation Center!”
Animal rehabbing started out as a hobby for both Ed, Gail and their son and daughter, but their passion for wildlife continued to grow, rescuing and rehabilitating animals. Now it’s decades serving the Manatee and Sarasota County area! Gail & Ed Straight have been living on Anna Maria Island for over 50 years, 36 years rehabbing! This animal rescue would not be in existence at all if it wasn’t for the tireless dedication of the Straight family. Little by little, Gail obtained licenses to care for wildlife animals which included federal, local, and state licenses for animals to reside at their 100 x 50-acre property in Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island. The nonprofit wildlife rescue’s goal is to rehabilitate any wildlife of Florida native species, sick, injured or orphaned, releasing all those healed to go back into the wild.

St. Francis Society Animal Rescue Needs Fosters!
Established in 1997, St. Francis Society Animal Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit 501-c-3 animal rescue organization dedicated to saving domestic animals as well as spaying/neutering and medical services for those animals. We seek to place animals in a loving foster or permanent home after recovery and we DO NOT euthanize unless terminal illness necessitates such a decision. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, wormed and vaccinated before they are adopted. Each year, St. Francis Society helps find homes for over 2,000 animals. Nearly half of those are saved from euthanasia at local animal shelters, and the others are rescued from the community. Additionally, each year, we trap/neuter/vaccinate and return hundreds of feral cats in the Tampa Community. This is the only proven humane and effective method to manage community cat colonies and prevent thousands of unwanted kittens from being born. We’re putting out a plea for people that can foster a cat or a kitten or a mom with babies until we can find them their forever homes. All medical, transportation and food will be provided. Our need is great. If you can help, please contact Suzanne at vegansuzanne@yahoo.com or text to 813-857-2329. Thank you.

TAKE ACTION AND SIGN THIS PETITION
This petition acts as a show of support for the maximum sentence allowed under law in the case of the STATE OF FLORIDA -VS- OSVALDO ALOMA GARRIDO (case #22-CF-016183). Mr. Garrido shot at least seven cats with a pellet rifle. Three of the cats died from their injuries. The surviving cats were severely wounded. Osvaldo is charged with one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals With a Weapon. Despite Mr. Garrido admitting to deputies that he shot at multiple cats in the area, he pled not guilty.
As an animal advocacy organization, we are accustomed to seeing and hearing about heinous crimes carried out upon animals. This case is particularly egregious. We must uphold the laws put in place to protect animals and hold those who break the law accountable for their actions. If left unpunished, Mr. Garrido's crime sends a message that killing animals and breaking the law is okay. For the reasons stated above, we, the undersigned, request that Osvaldo Aloma Garrido receive the maximum sentence allowed under law.
TAKE ACTION!
You can help get justice for the cats by emailing the individuals listed below. Please include the case number as your subject (case #22-CF-016183).
