The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

A Prayer Based on the Text...

Jesus says, “Love” and I say, “Who?”

Jesus says, “Give” and I say, “What?”

Jesus says, “Follow” and I say, “Where?”

And Jesus says:

“Whoever.”

“Whatever.”

“Wherever.”

Jesus, help me to respond to your call with everything that I am and everything that I have. Let me hold nothing back in response to your great love for me. Amen.

Prayer Though the Ages...

Let your outstretched arm, O Lord, be our defense; your mercy and loving kindness in Jesus Christ, our salvation and the grace of your life-giving Spirit, our strength; now and for ever. Amen.

John Knox, Book of Common Order, 1564

A Prayer for Today...

Dear Lord, we will face many terrifying events throughout this life, but may we never forget that the ultimate victory belongs to you. Through your sacrifice, death has been defeated. In Jesus’ name, we thank You for being our light, our salvation, and our strength in this dark world we bring our prayers in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
