Be ready for wet travel conditions

Above-average rainfall is in the forecast next week. Prepare to travel in wet conditions:

  • Check windshield wiper blades and replace them if needed.

  • Consider new tires if treads are worn. Worn tires make braking challenging and can cause hydroplaning in wet conditions.

  • Drive slowly and increase stopping distance. Streets may be slick due to oil that collects on road surface over the summer.

  • Use lights and wear bright or reflective clothing If walking, biking or rolling so drivers can see you.

  • Keep sidewalks free of wet leaves, which can be slippery. Property owners are responsible for maintaining sidewalks adjacent to their property.
