Loan Loss Reserve Program Application Window

Apply for the Loan Loss Reserve Program until Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 4 p.m. Pacific Time. Applicants who cannot meet this deadline should contact broadband.loanloss@cpuc.ca.gov. Visit the program webpage for more information.
New Expanded Eligibility for Broadband Public Housing Funds

The CPUC expanded the Broadband Public Housing Grant Program to fund projects that serve communities with low-income residents whether or not the residents reside in a publicly supported housing community. To learn more about the Broadband Public Housing Account, please visit the program webpage and Revised Application Requirements and Rules. Applications are accepted twice each year, by the first of July and January.

The CPUC enhanced the Tribal Technical Assistance Grant Program by raising the maximum grant amount to $250,000 per fiscal year and expanding eligible activities to include administrative costs, engineering design, grant writing, and other activities. Applications are accepted four times each year by the first of January, April, July, and October. Find out more in the Tribal Technical Assistance and Guidelines.
Infrastructure Grant Awards and Deadlines

New CASF Infrastructure Grant Account 2024 deadlines and an updated Broadband Availability Map will be announced in the coming months. The date when pending 2023 Infrastructure Grant applications will be deemed denied (expire) was extended to June 30, 2024. Visit the CASF webpage for more information and to join the mailing list.
Broadband Equity Deployment and Access Program (BEAD)

The CPUC is awaiting federal approval of the Initial Proposal (Volume I and Volume II) for how California will make BEAD funding awards. Eligible entities considering applying for BEAD grants are encouraged to obtain a free Tier E license to view details of the National Broadband Map and participate in the Challenge Process. Learn more at How to Get Location Data for BEAD, the BEAD website, and by subscribing to program updates here.
Broadband Seminar in Tulare County
CPUC broadband caseworkers facilitated an interactive broadband seminar with Tulare County in mid-February. The caseworker website has seminar slides and other broadband resources. Caseworkers can be reached at BroadbandCaseworkers@cpuc.ca.gov.
