A Newsletter for the

Association of Black Women Physicians

What is happening in ABWP for the upcoming months of June and July?

President's Message

Greetings all,

We are on the heels of celebrating the fathers and father figures in our lives which perfectly coincides with Men's Health Month. As we continue to promote the health and well-being of our women and children, it is imperative to include our men in the conversation as well. 63% of men of color report not getting regular checkups and routine preventive services. In the spirit of supporting the health and wellness of our Black Men, we look forward to working with the National African American Male Wellness Agency as a sponsor of the LA Walk to Save Black Men Lives on 11/11/2023. Please volunteer with us. More details to come.

Speaking of mental health, in an earlier post, we shared resources if you or someone you know need additional emotional help and support. Understanding the stress and toll of medicine on health care professionals, Board Certified Chaplain and Pastoral counselor Charles Clemons reached out to me and offered his services to our membership. We aim to normalize conversations about our mental health for ourselves and within the community.
