Ford Pauses $3.2B CATL Plant in Michigan
|
|
Ford has halted construction of their much-touted $3.2B battery manufacturing plant using CATL technology. The Michigan plant was expected to produce the batteries for the proposed 600,000/year EV production.

Valley Pacific Petroleum Runs B100
|
|
Valley Pacific Petroleum in Stockton is running Class 8 fuel delivery trucks on Optimus Technologies B100 for near-zero carbon emissions. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, vehicles using B100 instead of petroleum diesel reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 95%.

Hot Weather Degrades Batteries
|
|
“Recurrent,” a publication that reports on batteries used in EVs used data from vehicle studies in hot climate zones and in cold climate zones to conclude that batteries deteriorate more quickly in hot areas, likely due to heat-induced accelerated chemical reactions in the batteries.

AB 579, a bill that would mandate all school bus purchases after 1/1/35 be ZEV, passed the legislature and is awaiting the governor’s signature.

Shell Introduces Renewable Racing Fuel
|
|
Shell has begun supplying Indy Race Cars with renewable racing fuel powering race cars at speeds up to 225mph. The fuel is ethanol made from sugar cane waste, a part of the plant that was formerly unused.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has begun installing 200 megawatts (2 gigawatt hours) of long-duration energy storage in a unique iron-flow battery system supplied by clean tech company ESS.
