WHAT

Crews are expected to pour the concrete deck for the new section of bridge over MacArthur Boulevard.

This work will require a full closure of eastbound and westbound MacArthur under the freeway as well as the northbound and southbound loop on- ramps. The off-ramps and the straight on-ramps will remain open. 

WHEN

MacArthur will be closed in both directions for one night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning as early as Tuesday, Sept. 19. 

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Construction Activities

Edinger Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Begins 

Crews are preparing to place concrete piles for the new bridge foundation at Edinger following last month's barrier demolition. This daytime work is expected to continue intermittently through the end of September.

Retaining Wall at Cowan between Fitch and MacArthur

Crews are expected to remove the temporary support plates, also known as shoring, for a retaining wall that is being constructed on Cowan between Fitch and MacArthur. The removal will occur at night and continue intermittently through the end of September. Access on Cowan will be maintained with flaggers to direct traffic while this work is underway. Coming Soon! New Retaining Wall north of Edinger Avenue to be Constructed

Structural excavation and backfilling for a new retaining wall along northbound SR-55 near Edinger, south of the railroad bridge is slated to begin in mid-September. This daytime work may include backup alarms from construction vehicles, vibration and noise.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
