CCA’s Cum Laude Society inductees are juniors and seniors who have achieved exceptional grade point averages, have been very involved in the school community, and are students that exude excellence, justice, and honor. This year’s inductees are:

Senior Day Recognitions

In addition to the Cum Laude Induction Ceremony held today, it was Senior Day. Our middle and upper school students, along with family members, gathered at the school to celebrate the seniors.

As is the tradition, the senior class chooses a member of the graduating class to speak on their behalf. This year, the seniors selected Adam Hanna to give the Senior Speech. Following Adam’s remarks, Keeva George, Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook, made the Yearbook Dedication to Philip Kenney, Director of Student Life. Adam Hanna, Senior Class Representative, MacKenzie Balfore, Senior Class President, and Hunter Kadra, Student Council Treasurer, then presented the senior gift of a Kwanzan cherry tree that is planted near the Ungerman Library. The day wrapped up with an ice cream truck delivering treats to every student at CCA, thanks to the Parents’ Association.
Purchase Your Tickets to the Spring Gala & Auction

The Spring Gala & Auction is only two weeks away! We hope you plan to join us on Saturday, May 21 at the Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville for an evening of celebration. You can purchase your tickets here. This all-school fundraiser will feature dinner, music, plus live and silent auctions to benefit Cape Cod Academy.

A highlight of the Gala each year is bidding on our students' creative donations. Each lower school class is busy working hard to create a unique item for the auction.

Tickets are going fast. The last day to purchase tickets is May 16th.
All-School Field Day

All-School Field Day 2022 will be on Friday, May 27th from 11:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. We look forward to this tradition of wrapping up the year with camaraderie and healthy competition between our Team Blue and Team White members.

We are looking for volunteers to help in our grill station to provide lunch for the community. Please sign up here if you can help.

If your child has grown out of his/her field day shirt, there is an inventory of replacement shirts for $10. Please email Jeff Conlon at jconlon@capecodacademy.org to obtain a new shirt. If you have a question about what field day team your child is on, visit the Resource Board on our website to view the team rosters.
Thank You For Supporting the Dance Marathon

Cape Cod Academy's Community Service Organization (CSO) hosted the Dance Marathon last weekend to benefit Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation's Women's Early Detection (WED) Fund. Thanks to the generosity of so many, it was an incredibly successful event that attracted more than 200 participants!
Thank You, Parents' Association!

Cape Cod Academy's faculty sincerely thanks the Parents' Association for making Teacher Appreciation Week unforgettable! From breakfast, lunch, and treats to raffles, ice cream, and room service, this week was truly a treat for all. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Fifth and Eighth Graders Prepare for Next Year

Moving-Up Days for current fifth graders going to the middle school and eighth graders heading to the upper school were held this week. Our fifth graders visited sixth-grade classrooms, met teachers and students, and learned about the middle school experience. Our eighth-grade students visited ninth-grade classes to get a closer look at a day in the life of an upper school student.
CCA Students Tee It Up with Golf Simulator

Cape Cod Academy students are enjoying the new golf simulator installed at the school as part of a wellness grant. The simulator allows students to practice their golf swings year-round, tracking their ball speed and flight patterns.
UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
Financial-Aid Informational Event Postponed

Please note that our Financial-Aid Informational Evening that was scheduled for next Monday, May 9th, has been postponed due to an illness in the presenter's family. We hope to reschedule this program to run late summer or early fall.
MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
Middle School Dance is Tonight

All Cape Cod Academy middle school students are invited to attend the Middle School Dance on this evening from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. in Davis Commons at the school. Students can be dropped off and picked up at the Lower School Circle. This will be a semi-formal dance with a black-and-white theme. Snacks and drinks will be served. Tickets are currently on sale for $5 per person and can be purchased from class advisors or any student council member.
Sixth-Graders Zoom with PhD Researcher

Last week, our sixth-grade scientists got to feel like they were traveling to the Amazon by hearing from PhD researcher, Chloe Fouilloux. She is a French-American scientist currently living in Finland studying the ecology and evolution of poison dart frogs in French Guiana. The kids loved the presentation!
LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
Poem in Your Pocket

Each year in April, our lower school students celebrate Poem In Your Pocket Day. April is National Poetry Month. This event began in New York City in 2002 and is sponsored by the Academy of Poets. Last Friday, all lower school students had poems in their "pockets"; one they wrote or one they copied from a poetry book to share. The classes met in small groups in the Poem Garden (created and decorated by middle school seminar students and Mrs. Atwater's fifth-grade class) with different grades participating at the same time. Not only did the students get to share their poems, but they made new friends, too.
