Dear Parents,

It was a zoo here this week...Literally! This week our kids in Rainbow, Purple, Orange, Brown, Silver and Gold has a visit from the Little Farm. This was our first on site fieldtrip of the new school year. The kids really loved learning about the animals and having a chance to enter the petting zoo. I am sure you loved seeing the photos on Brightwheel. Please note that a $8 charge will be billed to all accounts of children who were present for this fieldtrip.

Our kids in Green, Red, Yellow, and Blue also had a special treat this week. The wonderful storytellers from the Coral Reef Library came out for a storytelling event in those classes. We are trying on the weeks that there is a fieldtrip for some classes, that the other classes enjoy a storyteller. We are grateful for this free service offered to us by our neighborhood library.

We will be trying a new service to offer something special to our families and help local small businesses. Starting next week, on Mondays there will be an ice cream truck outside our school. We are happy to help this small business and they are also donating 5% of all sales to our school garden program. Also next week, starting on Wednesdays, there will be a dinner truck for families who wish to take dinner home with them. They will also donate 5% to the school. This week the vendor will be announced as soon as it is confirmed and we will notify you. You can also call and order ahead if you wish. If families like this, it will be a weekly service. If not, we will discontinue it. Seems like a win for families, local vendors, and the school....You let me know what you think.

A WORD ABOUT HURRICANES....We always hope to have a year with NO STORMS. In case you have not read our parent handbook (WHICH IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE IN THE PARENT CORNER), please be advised that if at any time during hurricane season MDCPS announce that Public Schools are closed for the safety of their students and staff, Kids For Kids Academy will also be closed. When in doubt stay tuned to the news. I will also send alerts in Brightwheel if a storm threatens a school closure.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:

---REMINDER: We spread out fees to help parents to spread out the expense. Please remember the annual supply fees are due on Monday. If you are on autopay, you will see the amount coming out of your account along with your tuition. The next fee to come out will be the Brightwheel annual subscription fee. That will be billed on 9/25. NOTE: PURPLE, BROWN, SILVER and GOLD have one last supply fee that is billed the first week in February.

--PAPA JOHN's Pizza Cards: Some parents have started turning in envelopes. As they are turned in, we will return them with the pizza cards. With many people using Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App, you may wish to have friend and family send you the money and we can simply bill your Brightwheel account. We can also accept cash or checks made payable to Kids For Kids Academy. I know in the past, families who bought cards, more than got their monies worth from them. The last day to turn in the envelopes will be Monday, September 18th. The class who sells the most cards will get a pizza party! Thank you to everyone helping out with this Garden Fundraiser.
