FROM THE RECTOR
This Sunday we'll settle into stories that will take the next six months to tell. From December (Advent) through roughly May (the Easter season), our scriptural readings in church jump around, giving us a kind of thematic highlight reel. But then in the summer and fall, we go more sequentially. We won't read every word, but on three tracks we'll move forward through the first years of God's chosen people in Genesis, Jesus' life and ministry as narrated by Matthew, and (initially) Paul's letter to the church in Rome. We're starting this week a schedule of moving through these books, but we don't start at the beginning of them. In Genesis, we begin in chapter 12, with the calling of Abram/Abraham. This works because chapters 1-11 of Genesis are a distinct, almost independent unit. But we've skipped over the creation and fall, the Adam-Eve-Cain-Abel saga, Noah and the flood, and the Tower of Babel.

We're also already past the first chapters of Matthew. Jesus has already grown up, been baptized, called his first disciples, begun his teaching ministry with the Sermon on the Mount, and worked a number of miracles in the towns surrounding his home. We're picking up the story still in the early days of his public ministry, but at a point where he is already making a name for himself. Now we'll move along through these foundational stories of our faith with few interruptions for the summer and fall.

Read them along with us; pray them along with us; live them along with us.

Second Sundays with Creation Care
June 11, 3 PM, Riverwalk at Saint Paul’s
The Coalition for Action in Downtown Augusta (CADA) is all about galvanizing the community, so we’ve organized a mini beautification project in June. Kevin de l’Aigle and Jennifer McKee will be on hand to discuss all things CADA and Creation Care as we get down to the business of replanting three plant beds on the Riverwalk at Saint Paul's that need our attention. We'll plant flowers, herbs and native plants right outside our River Room windows! Bring a hat, water, and gardening gloves. After we admire our work, we’ll head straight down to the Celtic service.

For more information, contact Jennifer McKee.

OTHER RESOURCES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
A Few Notes on the "Management" of our Prayer List
Our official prayer list is an important part of our community of prayer, organizing our prayers for our beloveds. In order for our prayer list to be effective, we must all stay connected to the list, so we ask that you contact the parish office to update us on the status of your prayer request with a quick email monthly.

Twice a year the parish will begin a new prayer list: July 1 and January 1. Of course, it is fine for a name to remain on our list for an extended period of time; we ask that you simply email the parish office to let us know you’d like a name (new or continuing) to be added to our new list.
Join the Garden Volunteers!
Saint Paul’s Church has a group of volunteer gardeners who assist Keith Shafer, Grounds Chair, and Piedmont Landscape Management in caring for our gardens. No experience necessary, instructions given, volunteers often take home plant divisions. Thursday mornings are volunteer gardening time. Some in the group stay for the 11:30 AM Eucharist in the Chapel. The gardening group would love to welcome you! Please email Keith Shafer, if you’re interested.
Donate Summer Music
Donate summer music in memory or in thanksgiving. The choirs begin this year’s vacation on May 28th. Please contact Keith Shafer, Director of Music, who can provide you with more complete information.
