July is a very busy month here at the library.  We are humming on all cylinders as every department is participating in some type of summer reading program.  Obviously the Children's department has the lion's share of programs and you can see all of these by visiting our website, www.nevinslibrary.org.  We also have you covered for reading material for the beach, the mountains, the plane, just about anywhere.  Check out our website for more information on how to search for ebooks throughout the Commonwealth (as well as audiobooks for those darn commutes!)  Hope you'll stop in for a visit either in the building or on the website, we're here to help.
Summer time and the reading is easy!!

School's out, but we have plenty of programs to keep kids occupied and entertained - musicians and movies, storytellers and scientists, balloon sculptors and puppeteers - plus a huge array of special storytimes, craft activities, even reading to therapy dogs! (in the Picture, aren't they cute!)  Once again we're offering our popular Read and Bead incentive program to help inspire children's summer reading - they can earn beautiful beads and qualify for prizes.

Seeking Literacy Volunteer Tutors
Wednesday July 17 7pm
Wednesday August 14 7pm

For 12 years the Nevins Memorial Library has sponsored a Literacy learning program for adults who are learning to read and speak English. Volunteer Tutors who work in this program are matched one-on-one with learners who have varying skill levels, but who all need help learning English. New Tutors are desperately needed! We have over 70 people waiting anxiously to be matched with ta Tutor. Are you looking for a challenging, satisfying volunteer opportunity? Find out about becoming a Literacy Volunteer. This summer we will hold two Orientation/Information Sessions for people who might be interested in becoming an ESOL (English as Second or Other Language) Tutor. Tutor Training will be held in the fall.
