March Chapter 3 of 12 in 2024 

Over halfway through our 4-H year, it's almost mind-boggling how time flies. 

Many enjoyable events are approaching Spring Fling, Summer Camp, and Pancake Breakfast along with all the other wonderful SPARKS you partake in for your club, your community, your country, and your world. Sparking your inner passions, interests and talents that inspire YOU on the path to thriving to clear thinking, greater loyalty, larger service, and better living. It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. ~Jean

Congratulations to everyone who participated at the 2024 Lake County 4-H Presentation Day!! 


The judges stated, “the youth, and the caliber of their presentations were impressive!”

The overall top scoring presentation in Set-Science, Engineering, and Technology - Clara Luchsinger “LED Light Box”, Healthy Living & Culture - Ivan Harrington “Eggs Around the World”, a tie for Life Skills - Addison Holt “How to make Sandwich Bread”, and

the team of Jose Rodriguez, William Odom, Angela Odom, and Aleah Martinez for

their skit “Farm Chores”, the Citizenship & Leadership - Nafisa Jamil “Leadership”,

Other category - Alina Luchsinger “Emperor Penguins”. The names of the overall top scoring presentations will be engraved and displayed at the 4-H office in Lakeport.

We will have 2 delegates attending the Ignite Conference in Washington DC this year!!


Nafisa Jamil and Kiera Murray will be representing Lake County 4-H - Citizenship & Leadership Group. We’ll hear about their experience next month. This could be YOU in 2025! Get started now for information contact 4-H office.

4-H Council Openings!!

The Lake County 4-H Program invites any current volunteers as well as any Lake County community members to volunteer for the 4-H Council.

 

The council meets the fourth Monday of the month, 4 times per year or more as needed, currently via zoom. 

 

If you are interested or know someone who is please have them contact Jean Goulart at jgoulart@ucanr.edu.

MARCH 25, 2024


EVERY Club need to send (currently zoom) representatives to these meetings. They can be either adults and youth please let Nicole nmgentry@ucanr.edu know who your representatives are.

Scavenger Hunt

The Xa-Ben-Na-Po 4-H Club is doing a Scavenger Hunt this year to help engage its members and familiarize themselves with

some of the organizations that are involved in

4-H. Dropping in at the 4-H office, the members needed to look at the resource library and write down the title of a book and the author of the book. The scavenger hunt includes Rainbow Ag, The Lake County Fair, Big Valley Tribal Office Business Committee Member, and FREAKY FAST OIL CHANGE.


Thank you all for your continued support of our youth and your participation in the hunt.

4-H camp Steering Committee, meets once per month, you do not need to attend camp to be on the steering committee.

Congratulations to our Camp Staff Leadership applicants for Mendocino-Lake 4-H Camp 2024!!

Hannah Garrity, Emeri Parlett, and Kylie Neuroth.


This month they will attend the 4-H Leadership Camping Conference at Loma Mar joining other camp planners and staff to learn about creating safe, engaging, educational-and fun—spaces for campers. 


We have eighteen teen youth this year that have volunteered for our summer camp for the week of June 24-28.


Camp registration is open. Reminder - Camp is always short on male chaperones. Please make plans now for 4-H Camp the week of June 24-28 to chaperone for 4-H campers.

  • Leader’s roundtable, Saturday, April TBA - Please fill out survey to finalize dates: https://surveys.ucanr.edu/survey.cfm?surveynumber=4243 Topic: Each year we strive to be back with all the opportunities 4-H has for our youths and volunteers. Planning the upcoming year together will improve attendance and youth SPARKS. 


  • Saturday - May 25th Kiwanis Pancake breakfast details and tickets to clubs in March.


  • Archery in HV - 4-H poll will be sent to all on lists for date and time for the first meeting in March.
