Happy Summer! I hope this letter finds you all well!

School is out, graduations are complete, and it’s time to unwind and enjoy some warmer weather. After many ups and downs in school schedules over the last many, many months, we hope you and your families are adjusting to time spent together and getting to know each other again. At Luther, campus life may slow down during the summer months, but never truly stops. For instance, Dorian Music Camps and sports camps were in full swing for middle and high schoolers throughout June and July.

The Board of Regents has two new alums and one former faculty member joining its ranks this year: Alessandro (Sandro) Raniolo ’88; Dr. Leah Vriesman ’88; and Dr. Liang Chee Wee. Raniolo, Vriesman, and Wee will attend their first Board of Regents meeting in October. Welcome and thank you for your service!

If you are planning on a trip to Decorah this summer, there are many events to choose from, most notably—NordicFest! This year’s celebration of all things Scandihoovian is July 28-30. Visit nordicfest.com for more information! Additionally, if you live in the Decorah area, please consider joining alumni from around the region at the quarterly Decorah Area Alumni happy hour series for additional opportunities to catch up with classmates. For more details, visit luther.edu/alumni/events/DecorahHappyHour/ .

Lastly, Homecoming 2023 will mark our 30th anniversary of graduating from Luther. Time really does fly, doesn’t it? The weekend festivities are scheduled for October 6-8, so mark your calendars (and make your hotel reservations) now! Preparations will begin soon, so prepare to hear more from us this fall regarding committees and volunteering!

Keeping this one short. Enjoy your summer and stay cool!
