Its the new year and we can't wait to share with you some of our programs for this month.  The Reference department is pleased to sponsor an informational program designed to inform the general public on the basic philosophy behind the ancient Islamic dereliction.  With the cold weather finally here it's a great time to come in and stock up on some best sellers or DVD''s when you're stuck inside.

Its Oscar Season!!  Film Series Starts in January

It's almost Oscar Season and that means the highly anticipated return of the Nevins Library Oscar Film Series!  During the Film Series, we will show four of the Oscar nominated films for free.  The nominations will not be announced until mid-January, so we won't know which films we will be able to show until after then!  The film series will begin Thursday, January 21st in the evening.  More details to come.
Informational Program about Islam  

What is Islam? There is a lot of conversation these days about the Islamic faith and Islamic culture, and it is important to get accurate information and to be aware of the facts in order to contribute to a civil and respectful discussion relating to diversity and religious freedom. On Wednesday January 20th at 7 pm the Nevins Library will host Imam Bashir Bilal
, Religious Director of the Islamic Society of Greater Lowell who will talk about this topic. This will be an educational program meant to inform the general public on the basic beliefs and practices of this ancient religion

Hank Phillipi Ryan Returns to Nevins
Saturday January 16, 1pm

  The Nevins Library is very excited to welcome back award winning author and investigative reporter HANK PHILLIPPI RYAN!  Hank will be here  to talk about her latest book, *WHAT YOU SEE*.  This book is a *RT Book Reviews *Top Pick for "Exceptional suspense!" and named a Best Thriller of 2015 by *Library Journal*, which raves, "Mystery readers get ready: you will find yourself racing to the finish."*  HANK PHILLIPPI RYAN* is the on-air investigative reporter for Boston's NBC affiliate.

Love and Logic Workshop Series

The Nevins Memorial Library is cosponsoring a series of workshops for parents with the Michael B. Christensen Community and Family Support Center at GLCAC Inc. Mary Ann Fleming and her staff will conduct the sessions and provide free child care and activities for the child while the adults attend the workshops. All workshops are free of charge and will take place in the Study Room located in the lower level of the library on Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Please register online to attend individual workshops that fit your needs. Here is a list of topics that will be presented:

January 16th   - Handling Misbehavior without breaking a Sweat
January 30th - Teaching Kids to Listen . . . the first time
February 6th - Avoiding Power Struggles
February 27th - Limits Create Happier Parents, Happier Kids, and Happier Families
March 5th - What to do When Your Kids Leave You Speechless
