A message from our Missions Pastor

Hey Legacy Family,

I hope everyone had a great Independence Day celebration with friends and family. Once again I want to express my gratitude for all your support of our general fund. Your giving makes it possible to witness the impact being made around our community and the world. Read about the impact in the Celebrate The Wins section of this newsletter.

As you may know, we have a trip to Uganda coming up from August 29th - September 9th. We will be going to Marissa's House where we will spend time with the children that live in the orphanage and have the opportunity to build relationships and friendships with them. After that, we will be going to the western part of Uganda with Heavenly Bridge Ministries where we will have an opportunity to lead a Pastoral Training Conference. If you weren’t able to go on this trip but want to play a part, there will be a link below in our Mission Spotlight section where you can give. Our team will need your prayers as we raise support and also during the time we're there. Please set up some time to pray for us! I cannot wait to see what the Lord will do through us as a church on this trip. I can’t wait to share testimonies and stories.

Shelby VanMaanen has sent us an update about her recent mission trip to Bolivia. Please take a moment to read through it, for it is a powerful update.
Serving with you,
Patrick
Missions Spotlight
Uganda Mission Trip
We have a 6-member team (Kevin Boyd, Patrick Iga, Leslie and Ken McGill, Katie McWilliams, and Shelby VanMaanen) preparing for a Mission Trip to Uganda, August 29th - September 9th. This trip covers two missions, Marissa's House and Heavenly Bridge Ministries. After visiting and serving at Marissa's House for the first few days, Kevin, Patrick, Katie Ann, and Shelby will join forces with Pastor Moses from Heavenly Bridge to provide a Sunday service and then two, two-day teaching and leadership conferences for over 300 village pastors.

You can participate in the mission trip in two important ways. One is through prayer, the other through financial support. Team members need to fundraise to help cover the cost of travel and accommodations. If you are willing and able to help support the team, we are accepting donations on our giving site for the Uganda Mission Trip.
Update from our missionary, Shelby VanMaanen
Bolivia has been absolutely incredible! For those who may not know, I’ve been working with an organization that helps provide abundant life for women and children who are survivors of sexual violence and exploitation. I’ve primarily been helping with the children’s program. Since my background is in health care, they asked me to establish a health program for the children that can be updated regularly to monitor growth and development, as well as oral health. I have been performing basic physicals and dental exams, as well as education on oral hygiene and nutrition. Many of these kids have not had regular access to care, so prayers here would be much appreciated as this is a huge and immediate need!

We have also been making outreach efforts directly in the brothels and health centers where women working in prostitution go to receive medical check-ups. Praise God that they have been very receptive to us and we have been able to invite well over a hundred women to the center! Continued prayers are needed here as well, as it is a really big step to come to the center for the first time, and for some of these women, it takes months or years before they take that leap of faith.
Lastly, we had the opportunity to visit the new Sutisana shop! When I first visited Bolivia over two years ago, the women at Sutisana were just working out of a single room, but now they have their own building! Sutisana is a freedom business that was started for women who have worked in the industry so that they no longer have to rely on prostitution as a source of income. Currently, they have nine women who have been set free from the industry and are now able to provide for themselves and their families by making all sorts of handbags, jewelry, and home goods! If you are interested in doing more to fight the horrific injustice of trafficking and sexual exploitation, please feel free to check out www.sutisana.com and shop for their products!
