The Methuen Friendship Quilt Project
The Methuen Friendship Quilt Project is coming along nicely.

In fact, we are actually nearing the end already!

We are impressed by and certainly thankful to everyone who has already sent in a square to be included in this quilt.

If you were thinking about participating, and adding your personal contribution to this quilt, please bring an 8"x8" square to the library's main desk by the end of the month.

Would you like to help out, but don't have any extra fabric? We have some for you at the library to take and use! Are you interested in seeing the squares that have already been submitted?

Check out the photo album on our Facebook page! We love the creativity in this community. And finally, if you have any questions at all, please check out our website or give us a call: 978-686-4080.
In March our wildly popular Mindful Moment packets are back again. These packets that have hopefully helped you and your family take a calming break during your busy days.

Suitable for all ages, each packet includes an arts and crafts project, relaxing activities, a suggested reading list, and inspirational notes -- and the contents are yours to keep.

The packets will be available beginning March 17th, and will be distributed while supplies last -- just visit the Nevins Library website to fill out a Google form to request a packet and to make an appointment to pick it up at the library.

The link to that Google Form will go live on March 5th.
Eat Out and Support the Friends of the Library!
The Friends of the Nevins sponsored their first fundraiser of 2021 at Ellie's Restaurant on Feb 17th. We hope you enjoyed a delicious lunch or dinner at this new venue.

On March 11th, please head over to The Chateau right off of Route 93 on River Road in Andover for lunch or dinner. After a year of a lot of cooking and staying home, you and your family can order take-out, or eat-in at the popular restaurant. You support a local eatery and our wonderful library.

In April our dine-around fundraiser will be held at the Irish Cottage. In order for the Friends of the Library to benefit from your order, you will need to present a flyer when paying your bill, and there are two ways to get the flyer – either come into the library and we have flyers ready at the Main Desk, or if you are using Curbside pickup, you will find a copy of the flyer in your bag!
Museum Passes!!
As our wonderful Boston-area Museums begin to open to visitors again, don’t forget that through the generosity of the Friends of the Nevins Library, we loan passes to many local museums and cultural activities.

Check out the Library’s Museum Pass program by clicking below (or on the tab on our website home page) and book a pass for the family.

More venues will be opening as spring arrives, and you can book passes as soon as they are available.

Plan ahead for spring weekends and April vacation!
New Self Check-Out Service
We're pleased to announce we now have Self Check-Out Computer available right next to the Main Desk for anyone to use.

It is very simple -- just scan your library card and your books and you're all set! The system will either print your receipt with due dates or email you a receipt (or both!).

Of course our library staff are always nearby to help if needed. We love it and think you will too. Kids love to check out their own materials before they leave the Library, and we hope that people who prefer to help themselves, or are in a hurry, will find this new service useful. You can also pay fines or fees using your credit card on this computer.

Come check it out for yourself!

This service was made possible with funds from the City of Methuen through the federal CARES ACT.

What's Happening in Children's?
Crafts and Birds, Oh My!!
Did you know that March is National Craft Month?

We’re offering a few ways to help you celebrate! We miss crafting with kids in person at the library, but the next best thing is a “Zoomed” crafting program!

On March 27 we’ll hold a Family Craft Time, where we’ll build simple birdfeeders together. The library will provide craft kits that include materials you need for the project – so be sure to register by March 18 so that we can put your craft kit together and arrange for you to pick it up at the library.

Another way to celebrate National Craft Month is to pick up one of our “Book a Craft” kits: if you’ve liked our Take-and-Make craft bags, you’ll love this bigger and better version, which includes books that you can check out along with crafts for kids to do at home.

The theme for the first half of the month is “Sweet Treats,” and for the second half of the month it’s “Under the Sea.” (Available while supplies last; come to the Children’s Department to get Book a Craft bags for your kids, or call us at 978-686-4080 x26 to “book” your kit and arrange to pick it up.)

Last but not least, throughout the month we’ll have our usual array of online storytimes, book groups, science and cooking projects, and programs for babies and preschoolers – and even though we can’t do “live” programs, we always enjoy seeing you when you visit the library to check out books.
