Summer in Solana Beach

Get ready to kick off your summer in style as June arrives with a wave of excitement in our City! Despite the lingering "June Gloom," the temperatures are warming and the beach is beckoning. Our community is buzzing with an array of fun-filled family events that will keep the good times rolling all summer long. From the captivating Concerts to our magnificent Movie Night, the exhilarating Fair to the dazzling fireworks, there's no shortage of fun for everyone. So, even though the skies may be a bit cloudy, let's embrace the spirit of summer and make the most of the wonderful summer season! 

Concerts at the Cove

The City of Solana Beach and the Belly Up Tavern are proud to announce the return of the summer “Concerts at the Cove” series, held every Thursday night throughout the summer from June 29^th to August 10^th, at 6:00-7:45 PM. Concerts at the Cove will bring local musicians to Fletcher Cove Park in performances designed for audiences of all ages. The concert series emphasizes family recreation and cultural experiences in a relaxed outdoor setting by the beach, and provides an opportunity for families and friends to enjoy a variety of musical styles at sunset. 

Beach Blanket Movie Night

Save the date for the 18^th annual Beach Blanket Movie Night (BBMN) on Saturday, August 12th, from 6:00-10:00 PM. Get ready to bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and head on down to Fletcher Cove Park for a fun-filled evening and a movie under the stars! The evening begins with live music by Jimmy’s Buffet, followed by the feature presentation "Lilo and Stitch". Plenty of refreshments will be available, including pizza, popcorn, cookies, and brownies. Participate in a prize give-away with big-ticket items, including wetsuits, gift cards, baskets and much more!

San Diego County Fair

The 2023 Fair season opened up this week and runs through Tuesday, July 4^th (the Fair will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays in June). This is a community advisory to remind everyone that traffic and noise tend to increase during this time. The City would like to remind everyone to plan accordingly during busy Fair events and weekends, especially when using Via De La Valle. The Fair has set up phone numbers and an email address for all concerns, questions, or issues related to the Fair, which you can find by clicking "Learn More" below.

Del Mar Races

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's upcoming 2023 summer racing season will run Friday, July 21^st through Sunday, September 10th. There's race days... and then there's Opening Day. Celebrating Del Mar's Opening Day is a local tradition in the greater San Diego region with big crowds taking in world-class racing while showcasing their famous Opening Day hats. Opening Day is going to be a jam-packed affair and residents should expect traffic delays on Friday, July 21^st.

Home Vacation Checks

As we dive into the sun-soaked days of summer, it's important to prioritize safety and keep our community secure. Throughout summer, we will be sharing some valuable summer safety tips to ensure a fun, safe and peaceful season!

Summer is a popular time of year to travel and summer vacations are a fun and exciting way to spend time with loved ones. But can you be sure that you have taken the necessary steps to protect your home while you are away? If you're traveling this summer, consider signing up for a free Home Vacation Check. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department offers free home vacation checks year-round. Simply sign up for this free service and the Sheriff’s Department Senior Volunteer Patrol will keep a watchful eye on your home while you are away!
