THE DRAGON ARISES IN SPRING

AI Revolution, the Five Healths

and Humanity’s Spiritual Well-being

by Dr. Mao Shing Ni

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been in the news almost daily since the release of Chat-GPT over one year ago. The rapidly developing capabilities of AI is transforming many facets of our lives with its promise of increased efficiency, productivity and convenience. Recently, the AI driven stock-market bubble and euphoria has driven the market to record heights.

However, all powerful human inventions, like nuclear energy have their dark side just as there is plenty of opportunities for misuse of AI by malevolent actors. It is crucial to understand what its capabilities are and acknowledge the areas where human elements remain irreplaceable as we employ AI to promote well-being.

In this article i will explore what AI can and cannot do across the spectrum of the Five Healths—Physical, Mental/Emotional, Relationship, Financial, and Career Health.

Physical Health

What AI Can Do: AI excels in monitoring health data, aiding in diagnostics, and recommending personalized treatment plans. Its ability to process vast amounts of information contributes to optimized healthcare intervention and guidance.

What AI Cannot Do: AI falls short in providing direct physical care and genuine emotional support. The human touch, especially energetically whether it’s through insertion of acupuncture needles or emission of qi energy and empathetic understanding in healthcare remain indispensable.

Mental and Spiritual Health

What AI Can Do: AI can analyze patterns in behavior, detect mental health conditions, and provide virtual mental health tools for support. It complements traditional mental health care by offering insights and resources. AI contributes to spiritual health by offering mindfulness and meditation apps, as well as personalized spiritual content based on individual preferences.

What AI Cannot Do: Yet, AI cannot replace the genuine empathy of human therapists or address complex emotional nuances that require a uniquely human touch in mental health support. Genuine spiritual experiences and the understanding of complex belief systems lie beyond AI's capabilities, remaining profoundly personal and uniquely human. In other words, AI cannot meditate for you nor can it perform personal cultivation.

Relationship Health

What AI Can Do: AI can analyze communication patterns, offer insights into relationships, and provide advice through relationship platforms, contributing to better understanding and communication.

What AI Cannot Do: However, forming genuine emotional connections and resolving deep interpersonal issues require the nuanced understanding and empathy that AI lacks.

Financial Health

What AI Can Do: AI supports financial health through budgeting, financial planning, and optimized investment strategies. It analyzes data to provide practical recommendations for individuals.

What AI Cannot Do: Personal financial decision-making, influenced by emotions and values, remains beyond AI's reach. It cannot address the human aspects crucial in financial choices.

Career Health

What AI Can Do: AI aids in job matching, skill development, and career guidance. It streamlines processes, helping individuals make informed decisions about their professional paths.

What AI Cannot Do: However, AI cannot navigate workplace dynamics or provide the mentorship essential for holistic career development, aspects that require human insight.

In the quest for well-being of the Five Healths in our lives, AI can be a powerful assistant, enhancing efficiency, providing insights from troves of data, and offering support across the Five Healths. However, it is essential to recognize its limitations and its role as a mere tool and not a new God to be surrendered to. It is critical that humanity recognizes the sanctity of the spirit, which is comprised of empathy, emotional and divine connection, and the multidimensional experiences of the complex human existence.

This month selection is from Vladimir Iliev, the book Evergreen Life by Hua-Ching Ni & Mao Shing Ni, PhD, p 46, “Main Spiritual Focus and Direction.” I have followed the Integral Way tradition and self-cultivation for years as I embraced the values and wisdom of such path in life. I have never asked myself what motivates me to do it or where I am going. However, I have realized lately that this is not enough; one also needs a direction. I would like to discuss this topic with the study group. Thank you!

Main Spiritual Focus and Direction

Initially, the cultural position of the Path to the Subtle Light was taken from the

I Ching, The Book of Changes and the Unchanging Truth.

The main direction is to encourage people, both individually and in a group situation:

  • To live in a manner that complies with the inexhaustible source of the great Universal Way
  • To never give up on improving the personal well being and that of wider humanity
  • To be an example of a heathy life
  • To adhere to a life of progress, while maintaining a gentle approach
  • To tirelessly pursue the great opportunities presented in a natural life
  • To conform to a life that follows the enduring constancy of the Universal Way
  • To respect the regularity and normalcy of life more than the excitement of special occasions

Dr. Daoshing Ni, a 38th generation doctor of the Ni family lineage facilitates this monthly tele-study group

Synchrony and Harmony

What is synchronicity and have you experienced it in your life?

Let’s begin by looking at the definition of the word synchrony: simultaneous action, development or occurrence.

Most all of us have experienced synchronous events in our lives. As an example, perhaps you were just thinking of a friend and in the next moment the phone rings. As you answer, you find out it’s the friend you were just thinking about! Wow! How did that happen?

As a general observation, I often see that synchronous events occur as a result of our being in harmony with a particular energy or frequency. As such, this energy or frequency attracts a similar energy or frequency to our own in any given moment. Surely, like attracts like!

As diligent students and practitioners of this Taoist spiritual tradition, we may come to understand directly that wonderful, synchronous circumstances occur naturally as we align ourselves with the Tao. When in sync with our understanding and growing achievement of Tao, we may find our lives flowing with a seemingly magical, yet effortless harmony.

Some revered individuals feel that mathematics and science are the key to everything and that some events are purely due to random occurrences.

However, in light of our present awareness, how and what can we learn from these experiences to enhance the quality of our lives so that we live more deeply in accordance with the purity and harmony of Tao? So that our lives flow easily and naturally?

“Only when one’s personal physical spirits attain harmony with the high spirits can the narrow vision of the personal spirits become a broad, higher vision which encompasses all people and all lives.” Ni, Hua-Ching

Welcome to your March 2024 Chinese Horoscope!

According to the Chinese calendar, features Ding and Mao, which are associated with Fire and Wood elements, respectively. The Fire element represents passion, dynamism, and initiative, while the Wood element focuses on relationships and diplomacy. This suggests that a Ding Mao month may bring a mix of social opportunities where being proactive could have beneficial results. However, Fire can sometimes lead to impulsivity. Being mindful of decision-making and not rushing into commitments during this month could be wise.

Sisters of the Heavenly Way

Simply Being

Recently some women in our group shared favourite invocations and phrases they use to assist in calming and centering their being.

The two main phrases mentioned were:

A clear mind is the true master of being, and

Shing Chu Yuan Ming Wu Nie,

meaning the mind is like a bright pearl,

which rolls smoothly without obstruction.

I was struck by the synchronicity of the posts being sent and how these helped illuminate the meaning of wu wei, about which I had posted earlier. Hua Ching Ni had remarked in Internal Alchemy that wu wei does not mean doing nothing, rather it means that you (as aware being) are not entrapped or obstructed by whatever it is you are doing. In other words, the light of attention does not cling or get stuck to any content of experience; it rolls smoothly without obstruction.

Joan Solomon then posted her creative interpretation of our exchanges in this glorious and evocative painting with the words: “The Way becomes like a smooth pearl, when a clear mind is the true master of our being” weaved into the waves.

It seems to me that when our being is clear, earnest and sincere, our expressions become like Nature’s—pure calls to settle back into simple, fulfilled and contented ways of being.

Please enjoy Joan’s natural expression below.

Take your time and look deeply and openly in the sky and through the waves, for there is more than first meets your eye, just as there is in our lives of dedicated cultivation.
