One of the goals of The Brief is to create a network and build a stronger community!

For the MANA Member Highlights where we ask MANA members two questions:

1) What are some grand challenges you face in metabolomics?

2) Where do you see the field in 10 years?

In this issue, we are proud to highlight Sophie Alvarez, Ph.D. | Director, Proteomics & Metabolomics Facility & Research Associate Professor, Agronomy and Horticulture University of Nebraska–Lincoln - check out what Sophie has to say.

Innovations and applications using Widely-Targeted Metabolomics presented by Dr. Shih-Chieh Chu

Metware Biotechnology continues to innovate in metabolomics processes using our Widely-Targeted Metabolomics technology, which performs global metabolite profiling, and our metabolite database, MWDB. MWDB now houses over 20,000 plant-associated metabolites and over 7,000 mammalian metabolites not yet incorporated in the public database. Since 2015, Metware has been helping researchers in agricultural and biomedical research. Contact us and see how we can help you identify and quantify more compounds from your samples. Turnkey Methodology for Targeted Lipidomics

Presenter: Mark Sartain, Ph.D., Scientist, Agilent

A major challenge facing translational metabolomics is the successful implementation and harmonization of targeted methodologies to measure large population cohorts and to improve inter-laboratory precision enough to enable cross-laboratory comparisons of measurements. Come join Agilent for breakfast on Sunday, September 18th at 7:15 am and learn about:

  • A highly curated and proven robust plasma lipidomics LC/TQ method that balances depth of coverage with sample throughput across large population cohorts
  • Performance results from an interlaboratory multiday study to assess variance and demonstrate transferability in method implementation

Agilent offers a range of reliable and innovative systems for discovery and targeted metabolomics analysis, including advanced software for processing, identifying, and interpreting complex metabolomics data—and the expertise to accelerate your metabolomics analysis workflows at every step, from sample preparation to data analysis. Let us help you to rapidly obtain reliable results to quickly answer your most challenging biological questions here.

How do you obtain complete structural elucidation of lipids in one experiment?

Learn the secret on a new methodology for the complete characterization of lipids using electron activated dissociation (EAD) on the SCIEX ZenoTOF 7600 system. The rich MS/MS data produced with EAD contains unique fragment ions with patterns and intensities that can be used for complete structure elucidation. Additionally, the EAD experiment when combined with the Zeno trap is sensitive, reproducible and fast, enabling on-the-fly characterization of lipids from complex mixtures during LC separation.
