Art Rapids is pleased to announce the upcoming Concerts In The Park featuring 
The Rachael Davis Trio and Switchback

The Rachael Davis Trio performance will take place at the pavilion at the Elk Rapids Day Park on S. Bay Shore Drive on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 pm (with a backup location at the high school auditorium, in case of rain). The Switchback performance will be on Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 pm. Please bring a chair to sit and enjoy the concert, and take time to stroll through the enchanting Walk of Art Sculpture Park with more than 30 unique sculptures placed along the trails. This event has free admission, although a $5 per person donation to Art Rapids is greatly appreciated! Your donations help to update and maintain our lovely Walk of Art, a truly exquisite exhibit of artistry in our community." Samels Farm has scheduled a photography workshop that focuses on improving your photography skills for Sunday, July 24, from 1-4 p.m. Join the inspiring photography class featuring the beautiful Samels Farm property. Instructor, Tom Vranich, will review exposure settings, camera functions, and composition before the class goes outside to take photographs. Participants will have access to all the historic farm structures, machinery, and scenery to create their unique images. Afterward, participants will choose their favorite photographs for compliments and constructive criticism. All skill levels and types of digital cameras, including phone cameras, are welcome. The cost of the Workshop is a $15 donation to the Samels Family Heritage Society. Samels Farm is located at 8298 Skegemog Point Road in Williamsburg, MI 49690. Their latest PAIRING features the imagery & elements unique to Michigan- in canvases that tell the story of the coast & farmland-to sculptural furnishings created from our indigenous woods, stone & steel.
Without comparison, sculptor Dick Davis & painter Alan Maciag are true Michigan gems. Both artists are represented in galleries throughout Michigan & are known for creating pieces that represent the best of our region- our stunning environment.

Paddle Boarding Essentials
Wednesday, July 13, 5:00 p.m at Arbutus Lake, No. 5
This class teaches paddlers the basics of paddle boarding in a fun and safe way. You’ll learn about different paddling board features and types. Learn how to make the paddle board go where you want it to go and basic safety skills needed on the water. You will have the opportunity to learn what to do when (not if) you end up in the water. Annual Prince & Princess Story Time

Stories will be read at 10:15 am by your very own Charlevoix Venetian Queen, Alison Sape, followed by a fun craft and activity. Enjoy a snack and refreshing beverage surrounded by billowing Summer gardens too! Come dressed up as a prince or princess and pose for pictures with Norm the dragon, St. George the Knight, and the Charlevoix Venetian Queen and her Court.
Around 11 am, you are welcome to participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the grounds or explore the Castle’s buildings and gardens on your own. You can even climb to the top of a tower to see the Castle from up high and explore our model train garden too!
The stories and activities are chosen to appeal to youngsters ages 3 through 12. The books being read will be available for purchase in our Gift Shop and you can even ask the Venetian Queen and Court to sign your book during the photo opportunity as a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home with you!

Get ready for a fun and active class that will help you build endurance, flexibility, strength, and mobility, while getting to meet new (or old) friends!

We will begin with an approximate 2 mile/4M step walk through beautiful downtown Elk Rapids. Our warmup walk will bring stunning views of the lake and parks in our area while we build community and get to know each other!    
 
Back in the studio, we will incorporate gentle stretching, balancing, and cool-down postures to round out your perfect movement routine.  
Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and of course layers!  
 
Note: Class will be held regardless of weather conditions!! We will be in the studio for the full hour if the weather doesn't permit it.  Class may go 75 minutes if schedules allow.

Held at the Elk Rapids Jack Blesma Harbor Pavilion, if you are looking for that class that has the progression to take you to a new level of fitness and enhanced mindset, you have found it! We practice hip openers, back extensions, standing balances and arm balances. Each class will feel like a fresh sequence that gets you ready for the day.

GENTLE YOGA
Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 AM
Held at the Elk Rapids Jack Blesma Harbor Pavilion, this class is great for those looking for a safe place to take a gradual approach to fitness. Taking care to enhance your general body maintenance and mobility. We will ease into better balance and coordination. Using breath and steady motion will leave you with a clear state of mind.

PILATES CORE & CARDIO
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 AM
Held at the Elk Rapids Memorial Park Beach, this class is evolving. It's a blend of methods, but fun and effective! After years of teaching, this is Judith’s own combination of exercises. The Pilates Method combined with a medley of strength, balance, and cardio exercises. Please bring a set of weights, 3-6 pounds.

Tell everyone you know that they will be having an ongoing bottle drive so save your bottles and cans or your bottle slips. One of the nicest things about midsummer is the contrast between light and shade. We will capture this using the bright colors of markers as a backdrop for interesting shadows. Materials supplied.

A Naturalist on the Trail
Fri, July 15, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
Every Friday this summer a naturalist will be stationed outdoors on our trail system, offering a new mobile mini-program each week. Stop into the Center to find out where the naturalist is that day, or go find them on the trail! You can drop in any time during the 3-hour window of the program. For all ages! Donations welcome.
