Sunday March 10 | P.I.E. Day with guest speaker Tom Farquharson.

What is P.I. E. day? A day to highlight our work to Publicly, Intentionally, and Explicitly welcome all people inclusive of diverse gender and sexual identities to St. Laurence.  This celebration declares our theology and the way we want to love and support all people.

Why Pi? Love is a circle. It’s irrational, inclusive and infinite. And we’re delighted to add an affirming twist to International Pi day celebrations on 3.14, March 14.

Worship: Our service will affirm God’s love for all people. Our speaker is Tom Farquharson, a beloved member of our community. Tom started attending St. Laurence at the age of eight with his grandparents. Many of us recall Tom playing the bagpipes for Remembrance Day services, serving at the altar, leading Sunday School and performing in numerous Christmas pageants.

While completing his first degree, and serving as a reservist with the Calgary Highlanders, Tom realized he was gay. Tom notes, “coming to this realization was a long, but vital process in shaping who I am today. Given the recent announcements from the Premier regarding trans and queer rights for children, it is as important as ever that we embrace the message of P.I.E. Day and be as public, intentional, and explicit in our support for the LGBTQ2SIA+ community as possible.”

Your role: Please bring pies made with love in your kitchen or lovingly purchased to share during coffee hour.
