Collaboration is the key
Pleasanton is a wonderful community filled with interesting people, businesses, and amenities. What we have today is the product of many decades of effort to create an idyllic location, one which checks all the boxes that make it a beautiful place to live and work. This effort was not made by any one entity. Rather, it has been, and will continue to be, a collective effort – by myriad organizations both public and private – to collaborate in a way that grows the economic prosperity of our community.

These partnerships exist because the organizations involved value both the process and the outcomes that are possible. In a Forbes article entitled “12 Habits of Highly Collaborative Organizations,” author Jacob Morgan notes the best collaborative partners lead by example, determine strategy before technology, create a supportive environment for collaboration and are persistent and adaptable, among other traits. They participate not just to achieve a personally beneficial outcome but to be part of an effort that will be positively impactful on a greater number of organizations and people.

The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce exemplifies the spirit of collaboration through our economic development and advocacy work. For example, we partner with the City of Pleasanton, the Pleasanton Downtown Association, and various other organizations to focus on improving the conditions for business development and attraction. We also collaborate with Visit Tri-Valley to showcase our tourism-focused amenities and businesses; and our Leadership Pleasanton program educates attendees on how the City works by collaborating with community organizations from different sectors, who connect what they do with the larger issues we face as a city.

Attract new customers through partnerships
Wouldn’t you love to be there to sell your products/services when customers are spending money at a business related to yours? With creative partnerships, you can be!

Reaching out to related businesses with opportunities to collaborate can help you attract new customers. For example, if a customer is buying sandals from your shoe store, they may appreciate a coupon for a pedicure from a nearby nail salon. Conversely, a customer who just got a gorgeous pedicure might be ready to buy a new pair of sandals if they get a coupon from the nail salon cashier. In that same vein, a patient that just bought new glasses might like a coupon for a book at a local bookstore, while loyal customers of the bookstore might appreciate a free eye exam from a local optometrist.

The Chamber is the perfect place to partner with related businesses. You can attend trade shows, mixers, and committee meetings to meet people. You also check out the directory of members on the Chamber website www.pleasanton.org.

A thriving local economy is a team effort, and there are many ways to support local businesses. Partnering might just be the marketing tool you’ve been looking for to meet your summer sales goals!

Callippe Preserve Golf Course
The Pleasanton Chamber would like to thank Callippe Preserve Golf Course for hosting our Spring Tradeshow Mixer in May. We appreciate Charissa Roberts, Morgan Chandler and their team from Calllippe for hosting the event.

Special thank you to all of the companies that participated as vendors, especially to the following that provided delicious food tastes - Mochiholic, Passion Pastry, Simple Elegance Catering and Strizzis. Thank you to Amos Productions and Pleasanton Event Rentals for partnering with us for the event.

We host our tradeshow mixers twice a year, in the spring and fall, and they're a great way to meet tons of local businesses and have some fun, too. In case you missed this opportunity in the spring, our next Tradeshow is set for November 8 at The Club at Ruby Hill.
