Dear Friends,

This fall we celebrate the 18th anniversary of The MY HERO International Film Festival and submissions are open for short, inspiring films that honor diverse heroes from around the world.

We welcome short narrative films, documentaries, animation, immersive storytelling and experimental work up to ten minutes in length made by professional filmmakers and students of all ages.  Students can access a fee waiver code. The general call for entries deadline is Sept.1. We have extended the deadline to Oct. 1 for our special awards that come with cash prizes for students and professional filmmakers honoring women, those working for peace, activists, poets, youth reporters and more.

Our goal with The MY HERO International Film Festival and website is to amplify the stories of those creating positive change in the world.​

There are many ways to participate:

• Help us spread the word about The MY HERO International Film Festival call for entries to teachers, students and professional filmmakers.
• Nominate an outstanding short film for consideration for the Festival. 
• View selected short films online and cast a vote for your favorite.  The 2022 People’s Choice Award Ballot will be available from Oct. 7-Nov. 7 for classroom and home use to explore the theme of heroism and the art of filmmaking.
• Join us for the Festival Special Awards Ceremony on Sat. Nov. 19th at 2pm (PST). Thanks to The Eva Haller Salon Series for hosting this virtual event.
• Celebrate filmmakers and heroes at our Family-friendly Virtual Film Festival on Sat Dec. 10th at 10am (PST).

Submissions for the following Special Awards will be accepted until October 1.

Join us November 19th for the Virtual Awards Ceremony of the MY HERO International Film Festival. Winning films will be announced and celebrated and clips of selected shorts will be screened. The festivities begin at 2 pm (PST).

On December 10 at 10 am (PST), join us for a family-friendly awards celebration and virtual screening of selected clips.
