Beaufort Hotel donates $17,669 to the Friends of the Reserve | Beaufort Hotel General Manager Peter Grills with the board of the Friends of the Reserve. | Friends of the Reserve received a donation of $17,669 from the Beaufort Hotel courtesy of a unique conservation project. The funding is a result of a voluntary program called "Coins For Conservation" that allows hotel guests to donate to the Friends of the Reserve in support of the Rachel Carson Reserve. | |
"Coins For Conservation" is completely voluntary. The funding comes from guests’ participation at the hotel. A $3.00 fee is added to each guest folio at check-out and guests do have the opportunity to opt out. 100% of the donation goes to the Friends of the Reserve for projects they have outlined. | |

Rachel Carson Reserve is home to over 25 wild horses. More than 200 species of birds have been observed at the site.
“Many guests have commented positively about the program and thank us for giving them the opportunity to help keep and maintain the Reserve as it is,” stated Peter Grills, Beaufort Hotel General Manager.
