TCPG Budget Update

My name is Roddy Theobald and this is my third year serving as the Treasurer of Thornton Creek Parent Group. In addition to keeping the books in good order, I also lead TCPG's budget development for next school year. Two years ago, a group of parents worked together to develop a new process for developing TCPG's budget that brings greater transparency to our budgeting decisions. Part of this process included the development of a TCPG Finance Committee that met with TC administrators and TCPG leadership several times over the course of the budgeting process to provide input and bring greater parent voice to our budgeting decisions. I am proud of the way that your donations from last year are being used to support the educational mission of Thornton Creek through TCPG's budget for this school year, and I'd like to thank the TCPG Finance Committee in 2023 for their role in this process.

We have open positions on the TCPG Finance Committee for this school year, and I'd encourage you to reach out to me (treasurer@thorntoncreekparentgroup.org) if you are interested in supporting the school and TCPG through service on this committee. I anticipate meeting as a group four times in the evenings between now and June, with additional coordination by email. I'd particularly encourage parents and caregivers of BIPOC students and parents and caregivers of students with disabilities to consider serving on this committee to broaden the input that helps determine the allocation of TCPG funds at our school. I look forward to hearing from you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Friday, February 9

Artifact Day, 9-11 am

Elders from our school and broader community will join our students as they share their artifacts. We need 8-10 volunteers to help welcome guests and support various activities as elders visit classrooms. Learn more and sign up here.

Family Movie Night, 6-9 pm

We are looking for four volunteers to help with movie night from 6-9 pm. Set up starts at 6 pm. Tasks include set up, welcoming families, popping popcorn and serving up pizza. It will be a fun time! Learn more and sign up here.

TCPG Family Movie Night Fundraiser

Friday, February 9 at 6:30 pm

Bring your whole family to watch the newly released Willy Wonka origin story on the big screen in the TC cafeteria. Feel free to bring a blanket and stuffies if you prefer a slumber party style viewing experience from the large section of mats we bring in from the gym. Or, if you prefer to sit at a table, grab a seat at one of the several cafeteria tables we'll have ready. Each attendee will get 2 slices of pizza and plenty of popcorn to round out the experience. Please pack a water bottle and other snacks if needed.

Unlike previous movie nights, this is NOT a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied by an adult who will be staying for the duration of the event. We hope this will be a fun opportunity to get to know other TC families and strengthen our community.

This is a TCPG fundraising event and we suggest a $50 donation per family.

Please sign up below and indicate how many people will be coming from your family. Parents and siblings of all ages are welcome! We hope to see you there!
