For thousands of Nevada’s men and women who have served in the military, Anthony “Tony” Yarbrough has been synonymous with veteran causes for decades.
A Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Yarbrough remained active in the military and veteran communities, whether he was assisting the local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in his hometown of Yerington or appearing in front of the state Legislature as a representative of the United Veterans Legislative Council (UVLC).

Suicide prevention course qualifies additional safeTALK trainers
|
The NDVS Suicide Prevention Program, in collaboration with Humboldt Juvenile Services and the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention, hosted a safeTALK T4T (Training for Trainers) course on June 7-8th. The training qualified 10 new safeTALK trainers in Winnemucca and Reno who are working in veteran-serving populations. Read More

Heartwarming Ceremony Lets Veterans Know Their Military Service is Appreciated and Remembered

The Nevada Department of Veterans Services Healthcare Services Team held a Veterans in Care Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14th, at Rosewood Rehabilitation Center located in Reno, Nevada. Trauma survivors encouraged to self-screen for PTSD
|
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is encouraging veterans, servicemembers and their families to take a 50-second self-screen for posttraumatic stress disorder. The short, five-question screen can be answered alone, with a friend, family member or health care provider. Read More

Joe Jennings serves as our VSO at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. He is scheduled to visit Laughlin once a month on the dates listed below through 2023. Read More

Eligible for a sewer rebate?

The City of Reno has once again approved its sewer rebate program. As in prior years, one of the eligible groups includes those receiving VA disability benefits at any percentage! The rebate this year is for up to $194 per household. The rebate will be made available on a first come, first serve basis, until the funds run out. Read More
